I was right - that is a real headturner! Hadn't noticed the sink marks till you pointed them out.
Will the bridge be long enough to get a carriage on the back or are you displaying her solo?

Ayup Brian... Thanks ! I think i'll have to display her solo, as i'm not quite sure if i have enuff room for a Carriage as well. It will be my luck for it to be a half inch too short ! I'll buy one and see where we go...

Seeing the thread about the 'Evening Star' really brought back a fond memory. I had recently left school and started an Engineering apprenticeship when the technical college organised a day trip to the Swindon Railway Works. I can remember all of us lads being gobsmacked at seeing this brand new steam locomotive resplendant in its BR green livery. Poignant, as it was the last steam locomotive to be built for B.R. and the next time I saw it again was some 45 years later at the National Railway Museum! I have the Dapol 00 gauge kit to build, and managed to obtain some photo etched name plates etc from a model railway shop, so I will now be looking for some reference material to detail it. There are some lovely O gauge kits in resin and photo etch about.........at a price!! About £500.00 or thereabouts for Evening Star. There are also some other superb kits in this scale if you can afford them like the Mallard, Stanier etc. Look them up on the web. Very impressive!

Further to my last post.....I believe that Evening Star is back in Swindon in the museum that was the old railway works where it was built.
