Hi
Have you seen the latest SAM? There's an article which involves cutting masking tape into rings and the builder uses a couple of cutters. Does anyone know where to get these cutters? I need a 5.5mm diameter one to cut masking for an Avro York.
Would be very interested to know the answer to this one! Thanks
Simon

Thanks Alfie but its not the same animal as the one in the SAM article but as the modeller is Greek, it might have been purchased in Greece! I wish SAM would publish this kind of information though - may e-mail Jay and see if he knows - another Mastercasters product line maybe?!! Cheers Simon

Hi Simon
If we're talking about the same thing on page 22 of Scale Aircraft Modelling (September issue - Vol 31/7), then the punch that Ioannis is using is indeed a hollow punch. It's basically a round blade and you hit the other end with a hammer. They're extremely common and are made by lots of different manufacturuers. They've been used for years by leather workers and engineers for making holes in gaskets to accept bolts/studs, etc.
Regards, Alfie

Thanks for that Alfie. I actually e-mailed Jay at SAM and asked what/where their contributor had got his punches from and, to date I have not had a reply!
The Axminster punches look very good but the £4.95 postage charge is a bit of a pain but worth looking around at markets, etc for something similar.
In my case, a mate has offered to make me a 5mm punch so, all being well, I'm sorted. Actually, he might be persuaded to make punches for other people who want odd sizes of circular punch. If anyone sees this and is interested then please PM me and I will get him to contact you. I don't think he'd charge a lot!
