Ayup Folks, I was in the local W.H. Smith yesterday and noticed they only had one of these partworks on the shelf, it looked a little lonely so, for 50p I nabbed it, just for curiosity you understand. Anyway, I've had a read of the books supplied, nice poster of 'S' Sugar. Not yet watched the DVD as yet but if anyone has decided to build the Lancaster or is contemplating taking out a subscription, I have the first pack of parts which you may have as spares.

Has anybody done the sums yet? How many partworks x how much per issue?

Has anybody done the sums yet? How many partworks x how much per issue? 123 Issues @ £4.99 each (125 issues in total). The first issue was 50p, the second is £2.99 with the third free which equates to approximately £600 plus binders when required @ £5.99 each brings the total to approximately £700.

I've bought the 1st issue too, just to see - as you do. Still, it will be the only 1/32nd scale Lancaster about. That is, at least until 2012 when Sod's Law will kick in and Trumpeter will release one! ;D

Alfie mate, if you've got issue 1 and I've got issue 1, that means we have two very nice propellers between us. Now then, if you don't want yours, all I have to do is find two more, then I can build the '(E)dam Busters' using the Wallace & Gromit airplane ... cracking plan eh? ... spiffing what?

I have bought 7 of the first issue as I have punning clan.
It is amazing how chinese takeaways come in very handy.
I am working on my first attempt and having fun unblocking my mental wotsits.
More to follow

Nige, I have a feeling that there is a whatifry brewing over the border, would it be a 'Wallace type invention perhaps? ... ah well, I'm sure you'll keep us informed. Alfie has just PM'd me to say that he's taking out a subscription to the aforesaid partwork, which means I'll need three more of those spinny things if that's possible? ... I'll PM my address.

brings the total to approximately £700. Blimey heck! At least it's in installments and as Alfie says - the only game in town. And maybe, with the way kit prices have been going, when Trumpeter DO get around to releasing one, the price differential may not be all that great!

I wonder if Okdoky's punning clan involves the use of said takeaway's boxes as construction material? It reminds me of Doug Feeny's sterling (!) attempt at a 1/32 B-17, almost entirely out of yoghurt pots ...
The main question asked at YDPMS, once we'd seen the Issue 1 results, was: will it fly? And: at that price, why not?
