Look what I found in the files whilst searching for something else entirely diferent. First prototype Hornet PRII - thought I'd share it with you all. Original print has "Air Ministry December 1945" stamped all over the back. According to F.K.Mason's, "The British Fighter since 1912", only five production aircraft were built plus three prototypes, none entered service and they were all scrapped. So why has it got a white(?) code on the rear fuselage? and does anyone know the camera layout in the "rear fuselage" Ah well - back to the Arado - Telfords coming on. Dennis

Dennis, Nice photo, and good to see you still delving into the archives..... I have a reference to the same aircraft, as being part of the Photographic Reconnaissance Development Unit at RAF Benson coded as 6C-R. Looking at Mosquitoes and Spitfires of the same unit, And knowing that PX216 appeared with the code 'R', I had a go at my model of the same aircraft with the 6C-R codes. I have discovered no photos in this exact scheme, but it seems reasonable........ PX216 later went onto service as a hack for the fighter wing at Linton on Ouse in a silver scheme. No photos or drawings of the camera installation as far as I know.... I went with camera's for vertical photography instead of the cannons in lower fuselage. Not much room for long focal length camera's, I guess that is why the Mosquito PR34 carried on for another few years. If any one knows any more, I am only too happy to find out... If any one wants a copy of what I have for the Hornet, please feel free to contact me. Colin

Dennis, Your right, it is a good site, and does seem to answer the question about the camera's.... However, as we know the RAF FR4 aircraft did not have the prominent oblique camera ports of the F20. So I am not sure that they were the same...... Look again at, www.dhhornet50.net/The second photo down in aircraft photos, of what seems to be an FR4. Although PX367 is noted as a F3... Look at the reflection in the water, of what might be a camera port on the belly of the aircraft....? .. and something facing aft? Vertical camera would definitely benefited from longer lens, hence the bulge...? Definitely not the same as the F20.... Would love to know....! Particularly as I have yet to complete my FR4. Colin
