Perhaps our Publicity Officer could contact the school... He's in Shropshire and the school is less than a mile from The International Centre! Right then, action taken so far ... The school has been contacted and the children involved in the film have been invited to attend SMW. James May has also been contacted. So, we're now waiting for a reply ... Just a thought, but just in case there's a repeat of the film and an update is planned, anyone got an idea of what we can ask James to supersize?

T Ted, can I ask what part you played in making the programme? I was with a bunch of Brit Modellers who went to James pub one evening with some made up models and had chats with him about our interests etc etc. many folks in the pub were also building kits and we had a quiz about Airfix kits and so on , Later I went to James house with a bunch of models to do some more filming some of which you saw in the program it was only a small part most of which they never used but I had some good long chats with him and saw a lot of filming done but I am not the presenter that he is. done my share of TV workfor some years now when I worked with JCV TV cameras at television shows Ted

Thanks for the update Nick, it was the kids that I thought were more important - lets hope some of them are curious enough! As for the next "kit" how about the Bentley (well, a Jeep would have been too predictable!)?

As for another project, which kit has the fewest parts! ;D

A little further history .... a goodly number of us dropped in at Telford on the way to SMW '09, but for those who didn't ... sad to say the Spit. itself was in about the state its original 1/72 version would have been at a similar age. Well, maybe not quite so bad - the main undercarriage was still attached, and not ALL the joints had split! As the programme pointed out, they really built a gate guardian using modelling methods, so you can't expect much of a shelf life: and I expect it'll be reduced to (very large) spares box status by its first birthday unless somebody gets busy with lots of RHS. (Dammit, all my 1/72 Spits get a large paper clip to help the dihedral, so what chance does 1/1 have?) I hope somebody does, because the kids worked bloomin' wonders and it'd be a shame to let all their efforts collapse in a heap. Personally I use "jeremyclarkson" as a term of abuse, but I'd vote May any day! B.

Hi Guy's, I caught the fist three episodes of James May's Toy Stories whilst staying with my brother inthe UK last Novemebr and though. "oh, well thats the last of that then. How supprised I was when I found out it is being flighted down here in South Africa via DSTV (pay channel). We had the Spitfire episode last week and the Plasercine this week, we just missed the school holidays (pity). However one of our club memebers is with the local Airfix importers, I'll give him the heads up. The good thing is, it will get repeated around six time over the next few months. I'm in favour of the life time membership for his lordship Mr May. Colin in Johannesburg
