Until I was sent this link by a friend, I had never heard of a PR conversion of the F-84E, by the Royal Norwegian AF. Go to vingtor.net/ and click on the Downloads link, to download a VERY informative PDF document about the planes. You can use the Vingtor decals to complete your model. Larry

Larry,
Very useful find, thank you.
You may have decided one of my choices for my pair of 1/48 RF84's.....
Interesting about the camera facing upwards....
Just got a couple of Fletcher camera pods at SMW2009.
Just got to get round to doing it now.

Larry -
same from me - thanks for the link.
I also bought a 1/72 version of the Fletcher recce tank just on the possibility of being able to model a recce F-84 sometime....

Thanks Larry, excellent link to an excellent bit of writing. Got a 48th F84 somewhere in store. Isn't it amazing what little gems can be picked up whilst browsing !
PS I didn't even see the Fletcher tanks at SMW - I was too busy getting lost !!.

That link is interesting Larry. As a slight diversion from F-84's, according to Duncan Curtis' excellent book on the F-86, the Yugoslavs converted thirty two F-86D's to recce purposes by removing the "Mighty Mouse" rocket pack and installing three K-64 cameras in lieu of. It seems they were known as "IF-86D", the "I" standing for "Izvidacki" = Recce. They also had flare racks under the fwd fuselage. Colin - make note of this thread - looks like your theme for 2010 - "Recce - Made in the USA" could be quite interesting !! DR
