Many moons ago a friend of mine had this black Mack R600 and he use to cart rolls of steel form Newcastle New South Wales across to Adelaide South Australia his & my home town, he did this three times a week and carried 3 rolls @ a time each weight in at around 8-9 tons a piece. It would have one over the drive of the prime mover and the other two over the trailer axles he would return to Newcastle most times empty as he was paid enough money to cover cost beside you could fit much on a 20 foot trailer in the way of general freight anyway. A few weeks ago I decide that after all these years of threating myself that I would build this rig I have finally done it, I bought both the flat top trailer and the Mack R685st models from Model Roundup in the U.S.A. and then set about building them ofcourse the Mack first started out to be built as a farmers truck all green with a tipper body but that was done away with, that is why the Mack has a green chassis ( I can't be bothered changing the colour of it to black). After painting the truck gloss black (wot a mistake that was again) I built up the trailer and painted it semi-gloss black which his was and that was much easier, all I have to do now is paint the rolls silver add some rusty coverings for the outside of them and it's done, I hope you like wot I've done so far, please remember I'm no expert so painting is not my best point and I guess it never will be.
The sleeper as yet is not finished and will be painted gloss black to match the rest of the rig.
