Another rivet-count on the picked nits ....
We all know about the 150 U.S. gallon centreline drop-tank on F6Fs, and how each and every 1/72 kit has got it wrong (usually by about 70 gal.) In researching the thing to make accurate masters I found some more of my old notes ... long story short, there were at least three varieties of said tank. The tank bodies were all the same, but the detail differences were:
(Type A) Seam all round on the vertical plane: rear "fin" inversely tapered, and filleted to the tank contour
(Type B) Seam ditto, but rear fin parallel and not filleted
(Type C) Seam all round on the horizontal plane: rear fin parallel and not filleted.
A scan through any collection of photos (eg old Osprey, Koku-fan) should show them all. They were apparently all in simultaneous use, with A most common and C rarest.
My question is: does anyone know the sub-contractors concerned, so I can use more meaningful names than A/B/C?
Cheers, Bri.

Hi Bri
Don't give up just yet...I'm still exploring avenues on this one. If nothing else, it will go into issue 3 of the Magazine.
Regards, Alfie
