Need some info on the colour of FAA Torpedoes. Tamiya states black but photos seem to suggest a steel/nat.metal with a lighter shade warhead (building a pre-war silver plane). Philip West's aviation prints show a red warhead. I know the japanese alternated between black and red warheads depending on whether the round was live or practice. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks Alfie. I like the Zinc coating scheme. Think I'll follow this path. This is my second bi-plane and....blimey! I would say the discipline and planning required is on a par when comparing a monoplane to a tank. If anyone is interested the Swordfish is a beauty and has been as much fun as the Grumman F3F-1 from AC. Dream kits.

Coincidentally I was about to look for some tech. gen on torpedoes, and here it all is! Brilliant - though I failed to find any colour details for U.S. torps. For those interested, my blued-out ex-TV clip of a VB-8 TBD clearly shows the body and propulsion sections to be gloss black, but the warhead and air tail are less certain. They seem to be matt light grey.
