Good morning,
being new with this community I would like to introduce myself.
Living in Germany approx. 20 miles north of Cologne with my wife, a school-teacher, and two cats, I'm a retired German Armour Officer in the age of 56, serving in M48A2/M48A2GA2 and Leopard 1 Battalions, or Armour Regiments as the Brits call it. For the last 16 years of my military career I was confined to staff duty positions due to a hearing profile, that I developed serving on these nice little steel-boxes, called tanks.
My focus is on US and UK military vehicles used in MTO and ETO/MWE 1944/45. I'm demanding for myself, to represent a vehicle in the correct tactical and historical context; i. e. correct AOS markings for example. My favorite vehicle representing this time frame is the M4 Medium Tank and its variants in US and UK/Canadian disguise!
Occasionally I build "Cold War" period vehicles in particular of the US , UK and Canadian Army, but I had build also Belgian or Netherlands Army vehicles. My favorite vehicle of this time frame is the M113 APC and its variants, occasionally an M60 Medium Tank.
I started during the mid 60-ties as a boy in "cementing" Airfix and Faller airplanes. One of my sisters, she studied in Cambridge then, she brought Airfix kits with her as presents, when she came home for summer break.
At the late 60-ties I was the proud owner of the TAMIYA Panther A and Tiger I. I stuck with this scale and I build kits in scale 1/35 exclusively.
I'm looking forward in collecting valuable informations in respect of the UK Army in WW II and share the information that I have with you, as I'm possessing quite a few of US Army TMs and my shelfs are packed with references, i. e. Hunnicuts and various other pubs.
Regards
Hauke
