Hi all , I am working on a new idea , So I want to have your input before I commit myself to a lot of work. The Section will be as per Title Dust Jacket The idea is to review books long out of print , to give new modeler's the chance to search them out at flea markets or under the table sales at model shows. Subject matter or period will not come into it . So please no suggestions of titles . cheers ian

Err how do we suggest a book if we can't give it's title?

hi , the reason why I wanted no Titles is very simple it all depends on what I have in my own library , Nick knows just how many . It also depends on time factors , modelling for myself , research for articles , reviews of new books I buy . I was just floating the idea to see if it was worth doing. but I don't think I will bother now ,

How about us mortals on the shop floor doing some of these old book reviews for you, especially if they're not a part of your library? I've got loads of Phantom books. Would a picture of the cover break copyright when used as an illustration for such an article?

Any review would be welcome for the web site review section, or indeed in the magazine. I think what Ian wanted to do was set up a section on the review page for out of print or long forgotten titles.
Ian has a superb personal collection of books as part of his research library at home. Many modellers, especially those new to the hobby would benefit from being made aware of what is or was available.
Ebay, Amazon and other on-line sources carry some of these deleted titles, but unless you're aware of them, knowing where to look can be a daunting task.

I think that this is a brilliant idea. The IPMS Archive has loads of books which I'd be prepared to do a synopsis of. The idea of an 'aid to research' is a matter close to my heart as it's one of the things that I want to do with the magazines also in the IPMS Archive. The question is...how do we organise it between us? Failing anything else, I'll discuss the matter with Nick at the next EC meeting. If you're looking for that elusive book, try www.bookfinder.comAlfie

Let 'em. I'm totally ambivalent on the matter.

Hi All , many thanks for the support , If Nick wants to set up a section Called Dust Jackets , then it will be open to any member to write a brief review and add a single scan of the cover on any subject as long as it is out of print. I will start the ball rolling very soon with a book published in 1979 . cheers ian
