Hello,
perhaps there is someone who knows if the code letter/serial combination ( VU-D MW114) given in the old Contrail York conversion kit is correct. If correct, which was the squadron? I´m just trying to get it finished and could nowhere find a photo of that special plane.
Thanks
Hein

Hi Hein,
The code letters VU would indicate 246 squadron which was equipped with the York from dec 44 to oct 46.
According to the booklet Avro York in Royal Air Force service 1942-1957 (Aviation News Mini Monograph) MW114 was never coded VU-D Aircraft of 246 squadron that I have found photo's of are: MW143/VU-O MW187/VU-M
serial/code combinations mentioned in the text (no photographic proof) MW130/VU-L MW134/VU-V MW148/VU-O MW163/VU-C MW165/VU-P MW167/VU-B MW171/VU-Q MW172/VU-H MW174/VU-D MW175/VU-J MW177/VU-K MW178/VU-C MW183/VU-R MW184/VU-A MW185/VU-S MW188/VU-T MW189/VU-U MW191/VU-Z MW192/VU-Y MW194/VU-W MW195/VU-J MW200/VU-X MW202/VU-G MW203/VU-U MW205/VU-L MW207/VU-H MW210/VU-N MW237/VU-Z MW239/VU-B
Cheers,
Peter
