John Loughman of Australia has been compiling a list of model magazine references for the last 30 years. The list now has around 19,000 entries, covering several thousand publications. John sent me through a copy of his list in Excel format and kindly offered to share it with the modelling community. Long term, I plan to include a separate references table within my database product KitBase, along with an Excel compatible import facility. Presently, the data cannot be imported into KitBase but I'm sure it will prove useful when researching particular kits. As John has pointed out, if you don't own a mammoth collection of magazines, it's likely that a member of your local model club might be able to provide access to the ones required. I have started a data files page on my website and have hosted a copy of John's data. www.suisoft.co.uk/kitbase/datafiles.htmPlease feel free to pass on the link to anyone who might be interested.

There's no 'content' in the list. I can't see it harming any publisher commercially.
If things turn mean I'll have to remove the file. It would be a shame though, as I'm sure it will be a useful resource.

Hi Gary. I was just refering to the appalling view that some companies take - indexes of their content come under their copyright regardless of whether they were created by a 3rd party. Some publishers do sell their indexes. I expect this will go under any relevent radars though.

Good point. I think it would be a bit unfair... but who knows in this day and age!

Unfortunately, I think the UK is becoming a bit of a litigation society.
