Today I put on lay-by or lay-away as U might call it two of my models required for the B-Triple project, I hope to have them within a month or so then I'll start saving for the other two trailers that R required the A units of the B-Triple these will set me back around $206Aust for the pair. The Volvo will cost me about $85aust and the trailer somewhere around $60Aust, then there is the parts required to convert the Volvo to wot I want and of-course the load somewhere down the track, this project is expected to take me about 4-5 months to build maybe a bit longer depending on funds. Volvo VN760 Main trailer for B-Triple Semi. The rolls of steel from the trailer kit may be converted to rolls of paper and placed somewhere on the load. Dingo

Yea I know Wolfie I should do the same thing it would make it a whole heap easier BUT in this case with doing a flat-top B-Triple there are not many around my area, the only company nearby is Booth Transport and they R mainly Booze transporters using B-Double tankers they do have a few general freight rig but they R curtain-side tautliners so if I where to get any photos it's a few cut lunch & water bag trip across Adelaide to Regency Park where all the freight companies R get permission spend a couple hours out there and hope that when I do get there, there R some rigs in town. Don't get me wrong Wolfie I not complain about having to go out there I'm just mumbling about the distance around some 60 odd kilometers one way. Anyway I'll see wot I can do when it gets a little warmer. Dingo

Well guys, I've done a bit more to the Volvo in the way of putting on its first coat of paint and if you think it looks a bit silvery well ya darn tooting it is coz I plan to hit it with either clear orange or clear yellow when the temp gets or decides to get itself right in this here place, we've either got hot days just not right for air brushing or it's warm and dribbling in rain again not right for air brushing, I want a nice warm sunny day not too hot and flippin' (sorry peoples) well not raining to do my painting. That's why this project is taking along time, besides the fact that I ain't get any money to buy me bits & pieces but I ain't complaining, it's only a hobby. Dingo from the Land that can't make up its mind if it wants it hot or warm and wet, sound a bit like England (Sorry guys).

The first coat of clear green hit the Volvo last Thursday and I now have to wait a couple of weeks before getting two more cans, Tamiya Translucent Green which is wot I'm using is not cheap here in South Oz @ $11 a can for tiny winy rattle can man it's expensive stuff, I think I'll head back to my local auto shop and get them to make it up @ $20 a can for a 500ml can much cheaper and will do 4 coats. Anyway here's the Volvo so far. Yea I know the bonnet needs to be re-done, it was the first thing I did and didn't realise the stuff was so thin. Dingo

Yea Nick, I think it's a nice colour as well that's Y I chose it, one other thing that I didn't mention was that the chassis as yet hasn't been painted I don't know whether to do it Volvo green or hit it with another colour, red or black is way to common for truck chassis's I will have to think of another colour any suggestions guys. If you're going all out for customization then I would suggest the green, but all that messing about. Go for the black.

Nick I'm thinking of cutting the front part of the chassis out so I can put an Allison V12 into it yep U'r reading right BUT then when I had a second and good long look at it I saw how hard it would be to hinge that silly bonnet so I think I'll stick to the stock box set-up it may just be easier. Nick as I said before after carefully looking at wot needs to be done to mount the V12 I'm a going to go easy for sure, to have to sit down and build engine mounts, cross members gear box mounts etc & so forth ( I know there is a lot of guys out there that would modify) I stay stock bow for that area and therefore gluing the bonnet to the cab to make it easy for me. I would take up the challenge but these days Nick I just don't have the time nor the enthusiasm to do so. Dingo

I almost never show an engine off, how often do you see a wagon with its engine showing?

Well I dunno about U Wolfie, but everytime an engine is serviced or even if it has to have checks for fluids the engine shows and with the rig I drove that was once a week for fluids and every 3 months for servicing and being a company rig they didn't allow the rigs to fall way behind so the motors where nothing but oil burning smoke chuffing heaps of crap. BUT it would have been nice to have a model with a motor that could have been shown when ever U wanted it, this curbside stuff is getting to the point of model companies being just lazy to build thing that we either need or want. If I had known in the first place how hard this translucent paint was going to be to apply I wouldn't have picked it so in the near future I will be changing the Volvos colour to a metallic green and hopefully improving the paint work on this very slow build. Dingo
