It was really good to see Airfix had their own marquee set up at the Duxford Battle of Britain flying event days on Sept 4th and 5th 2010. They were really doing something proactive to get youngsters into modelling as half the marquee was given over to a massive kit building session! Also of great interest was the set of test shots on show for a DE HAVILLAND SEA VIXEN in 1/48th scale due I was told for release in November at our SMW. I was also told that the long missed AIRFIX MAGAZINE is being resurrected at about the same time. Many of us old diehards will remember it running for many years under the editorship of Chris Ellis and later by Bruce Quarrie under Patrick Stephens publishing at Bar Hill Cambridge. I think that Ray Rimmell (ex editor of Scale Models Magazine) had the title as an independant publisher for a very short time before its eventual demise. KEY PUBLISHING is I believe to be the new publisher of AIRFIX MAGAZINE, and I wish them success in this venture. If it becomes as good as the American Fine Scale Modeler it deserves success.
