Hi people, a quick question if I may regarding the new Bronco Humber armoured car (http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=CB35009).
My father was a member of the "Recce" - the Reconnaissance Corps - and was an instructor on these during the latter part of WWII. Can anyone advise me what sort of markings the Humbers used by the Recce Corps depot would have worn? I don't even know exactly where it was based, except that it was in Cumbria/the Lake District somewhere. He has a few old B&W snaps, but they are not clear enough to show marking details.
So can you help a poor aircraft modeller who fancies building something with wheels (treads is a step too far yet!) please?
TIA

Hello, I'm a wingy man dabbling with the dark side as well. If you can get hold of the Osprey Elite on the Recon Corps it should help, and the french H&C publications on British AFV's in Normandy will give you an idea of the type of markingg worn. Do you know which recon regt he was in ? As they were attached to different div it would effect the markings - if you are at SMW I could get some of the info to you ..... I can see a plan forming

Thanks Jon,
Just been onto Osprey's site and ordered said book. I'm not sure which regt my fatherwas with, as I say he talks a lot about the Lake District, and I know he finished his service at Catterick, which was one of the training depots.
Look forward to seeing you at Telford, I'm displaying on the Avon, USAAF WW2, Recce SIG and Harrier SIG stands (eclectic or what???); asking at one of these, particularly Avon, should find me.
Cheers,

The Osprey book is a good source - I will be with Abingdon, French Air Forces & Recce as well so I could give you the bits from the H&C book at the Recce meeting on Saturday .... Were you thinking of putting out the Humber for the recce sig at next years smw ? I have a recce Dingo that I was going to bring this year but it might be lonely, so if you do your Humber and I build the Staghound I have we could have 3 ac's out for next years recce display - what do you think ?

Hi Phil,
Indeed it did, despite postal strikes. If I remember I'll bring it to the meeting tomorrow.
Cheers,
