Nige that's brilliant matey, how about doing an article for the magazine? You mentioned earlier in the thread that the Land Rover was a Monogram kit ... which one?

Hi Nick If you can give me an idea of the format of the mag and what you would want so I can see what I can rustle up. As for the short wheel base, it is a Monogram kit like this one. I got mine as a pre built and painted cheapy purchase for spares or restoration. I am thinking of using it as reference for a scratchbuilt L/R lightweight as the chassis should be the same and I can see my pall about molding some common parts from the other Landies I have. Mike from the Stirling Model Club was kind enough to bring in a group of his 1/35 L/R collection and a reference book for me to see. I will post photos of his builds on a seperate postingwhen I can find my connector for my phone. The book is "Land Rover Military Portfolio" by LRO Magazine and Brooklands Books UPC code 93486 11523 which Mike has let me have till the next club meet. It is a great read and full of useful reference pics. Thanks for the kind comments Nige

Well stap me, just had a look in the stash and guess what? ... I've got one, long forgotten and hidden in a box full of stuff. Lousy toy looking wheels though so they'll require replacement. Looks like I was in the middle of a coast guard vehicle conversion as there were a couple of pics inside the box.

I had to put the L/R model in a Mr Muscle foam bag and let it sit for a few days and then scrub it clean as the paint was quite a job to take off. All the bits that needed to come apart fell apart easily.
Going to have a stab at working on the L/R tomorrow and see if I can get looking military. Put it back together and throw a bit of paint at it. Might even try to start the Lightweight too.

Hi fellow Loggie, Having only recently joined the IPMS, I've been scouring the Member's forum for tips/ideas and really like your 3/4t Sankey L/Rover trailer. I'm scratch building the 1.75 tonne Bedford trailer at the moment, but could do with a look underneath to take some photos - do you still have any access, assuming that they are still in service?

Here's a photo I took at SMW2012 on the KFS stand. The lightweight Land Rover and two versions of the Sankey trailer in 1/24 are scheduled for release by Christmas. The FC101 had its chassis molded into the floor, so the lightweight may be the same. The trailer body is brass.

Nice work, Nige, but you've hit the same problem as I had when I made a Sankey narrow trailer. Those small trailers invariably have road tyres, not cross country ones. Not easy to find road tyres in 1/76 (like I needed); maybe easier in 1/24. Chris

What a great scratch build but after all your hard work it seems you could have waited... I saw both the LR lightweight and the Trailer advertised in Tamiya Military Modeller as 1/24scale kits...

Hi Mod
I would love to get a chance to build Howard's kit as I know that it will fall together in such a perfect manner !!!!!!!!!!! That said, I have enjoyed scratchbuilding this and will need to get my mojo going on it again soon !!!!!!!!!
TM is the current fave project and will likely take precedence for the time being !!!!!!!!!
But the KFS MK will be ordered this month before I go and spend the cash squirreled away for the purchase !!!!!!! Just awaiting Howard letting me know when it is back in stock !!!!!!!

Well I'm sure the resin kit(s) is a dream build but you must take a great pride in knowing you did it yourself... and besides it will still have more 'extras' over the off the shelf kit.

Hi Nige,
Just noticed Chrisg's post from the 7th March and wondered whether you wanted a pair of 1/24 scale wheels and road tyres for your Sankey trailer? I've got a pair that I'm not using.
