just back from yoevilton - airfix had the test shots on display- with what looked like a bomb bay insert for the PR version as well as parts for the tanker.
when e nquiring about this with the guys manning the stand I was told that for the time being only the bomber variant is due for
release. seems starnge to me but it must make sense to someone

according to the guys on the airfix stand at Yoevilton only the bomber variant is going to be released.
as in my original post seems stange to have the extra parts tooled up and test shots made.
maybe they are testing the water before making a decision.
