Cancellation of Trux and Tracks for 2011

Be aware that Trux and Tracks 2011 (Feb 26/27th) has been announced by it's organisers as cancelled.
They did this via a single forum and then have pulled the website, but do not seem to be circulating the information too widely so the show is still shown as "on" quite widely - but it isn't!
Some of the traders who would have attended have teamed up with MAFVA to try and salvage a one day event on the Saturday, but this is not yet confirmed.
www.mafva.net is probably the best place to watch for updates

Good Afternoon All,

Firstly an apology for the conference call e-mail, but there are lots of people to contact. Also apologies if you already have this information, but We would rather you heard it twice than not at all. As many of you will already be aware, Trucks 'N' Tracks 2011 has been cancelled a few days ago by My Hobby Store. This was done by the announcement on the Military Modelling Forum, see link: www.militarymodelling.com/forums/postings.asp?th=45633 This has left many traders, clubs and enthusiasts out on a limb with the loss of a regular show at Folkestone, and in some cases, out of pocket with advance booking for hotels and ferry crossings. A small group of traders and club members have decided to get together and look at the feasibility of organising a one day replacement show to fill the gap. This show, to be called 'On Track' has already received a lot of positive feedback and we are in negotiation with the management at the Leas Cliffe Hall to hire it for Saturday 26th February 2011. We are seeking feedback from traders, clubs and individuals to gauge the interest in this venture, as although we are not seeking enormous profits, we do need to be able to pay for the hall. So far we have enough traders interested to fill nearly half of the hall, and that is in three days of working on the project with communications by word of mouth.

Note that if you want to stop over on the Saturday night, there is a Wargame show 'Cavalier' taking place in nearby Tunbridge Wells on the Sunday www.twws.org.uk/ and certainly a good number of MAFVA members will take advantage of the weekend to socialise after the show.

Obviously we have a shorter than average time line before the show, so would appreciate a swift response this e-mail so we can go firm. Traders will be pleased to know that table prices will be the same as for the MAFVA Nationals at Duxford, a very fair price for the location. Contact us for more details when we have gone firm. We now have confirmation that 'On Track' Military Modelling Show will take place on Saturday 26th February 2011 at the Leas Cliffe Hall, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 2DZ.
This is to replace the cancelled 'Trucks 'N' Tracks' Show and will cover all types of Military Modelling. So far some 30 traders have booked up along with many clubs who will put on displays and demonstrations.
