Evening All
I'm not really a battleship modeller, but I've been half inspired by an old magazine article on the Yamato/Mugashi. I've seen a claim that the Kit Tech 1/350 model is from the same mould as the Tamiya kit. Does anyone know if this is true of not? I couldn't find anything in cyberspace. As the kit is a mere fraction of the price of the deluxe version I might just be fully inspired.
TIA Alfie.

Try John at WEM, he'll no doubt know.

I got inspired to buy it in the end. KiTech is a Korean company that appears to be releasing ex-Japan kits under their own brand name. So yes, the Kitech Ymato is exactly the same as the Tamiya version, but is a fraction of the cost. It even has similar box art!

Now the Bandai thing is something else...I don't know if I'm that far into anime!

Alfie If you are still looking for a Yamato, then you are in for a treat. Tamiya have released a completely retooled kit in 1/350th scale which should be the definitive kit of this ship.

Yes Tamiya have come up with what is the near as dam it to the real thing. But at a price. I have the older one built with a PE upgrade and its cheaper than the basic new kit its self. But if you have plenty of ackers to throw at it then no problem. If you can get the cheaper version and maybe upgrade a touch you will find its just as good as the dearer one. But its up to you lol.

Frankaplin.....Yes indeed, current Tamiya prices do cause a sharp intake in breath. e.g. Their 1/24th scale Aston between £40 to £50 !!!! No wonder that any independent local model shop (If you can find one since Beatties bought loads of them out then crashed and burned) are stacked to the gunwhales with Airfix and Revell Europe kits at about half the price of Far Eastern stuff! Far easier to flog!
