well I bought this Italeri kit and thought it would be nice to mount in some water as if it was getting ready to perform its mission.... First of all a lovely picture frame was bought, a back was put on to it and then lots of plastacine was added to create a sea bed.... The the boat was built, not really much to the kit, but this was complete and sat into the bed ready for the "water" to be added..... But disaster!!!!! heated the first load and applied, so i quickly heated the second and as i was moving the container from the gas hob to the model i burnt my arm and spilt some on the boat.... I think once its set i shall be able peal off the mess....

either EZwater or KwiKwater. Railway modellers have been using them for years
Did it peel off?

You could always model a crewmember with a mop and bucket if it doesn't peel off.

Right well having seen poor Fatty's experience I think maybe mine will end up on its stand. I am about to start experimenting with a woodland scenics waterfall kit and they also do water kits you just simply pour. Seeing as I have a loft full of 1/350th kits to build in the coming years maybe I need the practice with water.
I hope tamiya wake up and realise that the Italian navy is worthy of some attention for its WW2 ships at some stage or it looks like I might go resin to get something of the period in 1/350th

Hi Paul,
Cant say about the water you heated up and used but the woodland scenics stuff that comes in granules looks ok when its done but over time yellows my buddys tell me in the States better going for the ready to pour stuff from WS as an option should you choose it.

Maybe the granules version is better for mucky ponds and such like? A variant that could be gone for is to depict it in Venice. Being a lagoon and a farily mucky looking one at that you can get away with a mucky green looking bit of water..
