i'd just like to share my build-up of My Holy Grail of Model Kits, the 1/72 FM MFalcon..
i got the kit thru mail. it's also available locally at STC. the box is HUGE! around 800+ parts in sprues,it came with a magazine type booklet for an instruction sheet, poster size color chart with the same size reference guide of the 32" ILM Falcon. it also contained 3 seperate boxes for the sprues, and 2 halves of the falcon.
the hull was pretty much bare..just the way i like it cause of all the greeblies i'll have to glue on!
i decided to glue everything i could, then prime and paint. it would be inhuman to paint all those 800 parts separately!
i decided not to follow the instructions of building the cockpit first since i still had plans to choose between the New Hope Falcon or the ESB version(i had to choose figures to place on the cockpit). the kit came with i think 8 or more figures together with standing stormtroopers, Obi-wan,3po,luke,chewie,han,leia(no lando sorry!)etc..
i went with the Gun turrets first, i could hear Han saying "Great,Don't get cocky!"
next i did the escape pods found on the two falcon sides.i know it looks a bit simple, but there's a lot of parts going on in there..
6 hours later
you'll see my progress with the top Jaw box of the Falcon..after adding some 30 parts, i had to scratchbuild some essential and important parts on the "nose" of the jawbox that FM never added to their kit (it was in the 32" Falcon).it's funny they didn't mold it into their master. i used bent copper wire where the detail was supposed to be.
to be continued..
