Looking for a model paint equivalent of the blue colour applird to the HP 88, have tried the usual sources to no avail. Variously described as royal blue or cobalt blue. Many thanks, Steve.

This one's going to need more digging, I'm afraid; in B.S. 381C there are 106 Royal blue, and 115 Cobalt blue, and they're vastly different, Royal being very dark, and Cobalt only a medium shade. Edgar

I've received a bit of correspondence on this issue. The primary information sources are the books: British Research and Development Aircraft and British Experimental Jet Aircraft. Both give the colour as overall gloss royal blue. National markings appeared on the lower wing only and were outlined in silver as were the serial numbers. Wheel wells were matt black. There is an article on ARC that uses the Classic Airframes Attacker kit as the starting point - he used Mr Color Cobalt Blue.
