It depends on what you like Dave. I've not built many cars preferring trucks but my preference would be for 1/24 and above, I find 1/32 a tad small. There is plenty of choice in whatever scale you choose and whichever manufacturer you choose. My suggestion would be to visit your local model shop if there's one near you and peruse the shelves. You could also have a look through the kit catalogues and see what takes your fancy. Tamiya have an excellent range of top marques, they have a good reputation for quality, Revell and Italeri also have a good selection. I'd be interested in which kit you eventually choose.

Hi Dave,
Although i dont model vechiles anymore if i went into a modelshop for one i would head for the Tamiya stock as a first choice if you can find them the Fujimi Enthusiast models where always good though now probably worth more unbuilt.
Revell kits are good especially if your going to model larger than 1/24 (not sure what the Revell range is like now but they did do some good vechiles especially if the mood takes you trucks)

Well in the Airfix magazine saw a build of 2 mitsubishis which look good, also noticed a VW van can be done.
As with most things, the more eye catching things do it for me, so any recommendations most welcome.

Which mark of Golf as there are plenty available, the fujimi kit of the mark 2 is pretty good as an intro back into modelling the Tamiya is the best original Mini kit I have found so far.

Have brought the Tamiya Morris Mini 1275 kit, so will make a start on it and see where i go with it. As it wasnt too expensive will give me a good car to practice on. Will let you know how i get on.

Hi, I'd say you've chosen well with the Tamyia mini kit. The detail in Tamyia kits is crisp and they go together well. I believe Fujumi is bringing out their Mk1 Golf Gti kit again. If you're after a specific kit try e-bay. Here's a picture of what I did with an old Golf kit that I robbed the body from after some bits had gone missing after a few moves (only the body remains and its in much modified form!). Let us know how you get on with the Tamyia Mini and always shout when you want a recommendation. Cheers,

If you are looking for really good car kits, you will do no worse than looking at the latest releases from Revell Germany. They are well up there now and on a par quality wise compared with Tamiya, Fujimi and Hasegawa ......and roughly about HALF THE PRICE of the Japanese offerings! Obviously it depends on the type of car kitted what you buy, but certainly the new Revell kits represent very good value for money. Going bigger, I believe that their new kit of the Routemaster double decker bus retails at about £35. you get a big box chock full of bits for the money!

i would agree, the mini is a nice kit. it will build well from the box, and also lends itself to modification, as was the real thing. sounds like enough people interested for a group build over christmas !
