Whilst at the 'War and Peace' show at Beltring in Kent last week, I was asked if I could build this kit for someone who owns a Ferret armoured car ... As I've never built one of the Accurate Armour kits before I was slightly dubious about accepting the commission but agreed. I've had a look at the kit and it seems to be fairly straight forward. I'll be starting the kit shortly and wondered if anyone else had experience of building an Accurate Armour Ferret and could pass on a few hints and tips.

I've had a good look at the kit this morning and it seems fairly straight forward. First things first, into a bowl of water and mild detergent and wash the release agent off, now where's my old tooth brush?

I now have a full set of pics of the 1:1 vehicle, hoping to get this on the bench at the weekend. Apparently it's the owner's 50th shortly. I'll do my best Mervyn!

Finally made a start on this today, sorry it's a tad late Mervyn but I was attempting to finish another model before starting. First stage was to identify all the parts and put them into build sections, making a plan of construction rather than hopping from place to place with a bit glued here and another glued there. There are lots of minute parts which make up the build for this kit, should be fun, pics later ...

Oops! ... it seems the gremlins are at work as I posted a couple of pics on here last night. However, it seems I posted then previewed them and ... well, call it a senior moment. Here's the progress as of last night ... ... near side front drive, suspension and steering mechanism, tricky piece of construction as the steering components are so small ... ... near side rear drive and suspension and a minute tow ring, there are 4 of these to attach, one at each corner and 4 on the belly ... ... and the tub as it is at the moment. The drive train on both sides is attached, time for a quick coffee this morning and out to the workshop to do a bit more.

I had an early start on this today. Just a quick pic to show you how small some of these parts are ... ... one of the rings being removed from the sprue. I'm waiting until the major construction work on the tub has been finished before I add the under tub securing points as they're rather fragile. I've had quite a productive day ... ... head lamps, flare launches, radio aerials, light clusters and an extinguisher. Unfortunately (sorry Mervyn) as I was cutting one of the light clusters from the sprue it went into launch mode. After an hour searching the workshop I gave up looking for it. It's in there somewhere hiding, laughing at me searching for it. Don't worry, there's a replacement on its way.

Nice going Nick . Yes resin can be a """"", but its good stuff when you need detail on a subject that is not produced in plastic. I think resin is a great subject for modeling and have many to start in this realm . Watching this with interest.

The reason I ask this as I have commanded and driven this type of vehicle, so might be of assistance.

Progress for today ... ... most of the equipment for the front of the vehicle is now attached apart from the spigots for the sand ramps. The ramps are not used on this particular vehicle, a tow rope is wrapped around them instead, this will be done later in the build. Here's another couple of views of the progress for today ... ... the cupola has been placed on top of the vehicle just to show the effect. The wheels have been removed from the sprue's, cleaned up and placed on the axles using a small amount of double sided tape, they will not be fixed permanently until the vehicle has been painted and the wheels have been painted and detailed. More soon!

I've had a good day on this today. Most of the external bits and pieces have been attached and the interior is just about complete. I was going to pre-paint all the internals but decided that it would be easier to attach everything and then detail and weather the interior. Pics later ...
