Hi everyone, after very many years modelling I've finally joined the IPMS. I'm rather catholic in my modelling tastes, anything from 1/24 sports cars (I'm part way through a Porsche GT2), 1/35 & 1/48 armour - I'm a Tiger I fanatic, I've built quite a few over the years - 1/350 warships, and of course aircraft, I particularly like '50s and '60s jets (F-104 Starfighters and Hawker Hunters in particular) mostly in 1/72, but I'm hankering to do a 1/48 Super Sabre. Saying all that, I'm just putting the finishing touches to a 1/48 Tamiya P-51B in bare metal finish that has been waiting to be made for a while. My skills certainly aren't anywhere near exhibition standard, but I'm usually fairly pleased with the end result. I tend to to my modelling in fits and starts, often leaving a kit half-built to take a break doing something else, before coming back later to complete it. Model kits have come a long way from the Airfix kits I used to make at the kitchen table when I was a kid in the mid-'60s, but I still get a buzz when one's finished; then it's time to look for something else to do. I recently relived that experience building a cheap Airfix Spitfire with my eldest grandson; with any luck he too will get hooked on building kits and get years of enjoyment into the bargain. I'm looking forward to the forums and getting inspiration from the good work of others and you never know, one day I might be brave and put some pics of one of mine up for scrutiny.

Hi Dave, welcome, and look forward to seeing those pics. Tamiya P-51B must be my favourite kit, so especially that one.
