Hi all, I joined up to the society at Telford at the weekend. It was a great inspiration!
I also went home with an armful of kits to build, the first of which will be a bargain P-51D Italieri 1/48 which I bagged for £2!
Do any of you guys know if the Aries cockpit upgrade will fit with this kit? It says it is only for the Tamiya kit.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the society.
When a resin manufacturer recommends a kit for their product the suggestion is that it will fit that kit with less effort than the other kits. It will not be impossible to fit the resin to the Italeri kit just a little more difficult that fitting it to a Tamiya one. However knowing Aries products intimately as I do I suspect both options will require a little effort.
Seriously though, any issues just ask here and someone will be able/prepared to help you.
The best advise I can give you with ANY resin upgrade parts are;
Test fit, test fit and test fit again. & Measure twice cut once.
Hope this drivel helps

thanks, that's kind of what I was hoping for/expecting. I'll give it a go and post the results here. I have not used Aires aftermarket products before, but I'm ready to start now.
I have spent the evening scribing the underwing panel lines. Again the first attempt for me, but it went well in my opinion.
Last question... what's the general opinion of Italeri mouldings? It's the first kit I've built from them. I love the P51 but wonder if I should have waited for the Haswega or Tamiya kit.

Sounds like a fun project - often it's best to do this sort of major reworking to a relatvely cheap kit so there is not too much at stake if things don't work out. I'm not familiar with the Italeri P-51 in 1/48th personally, but most of their kits are decent or better representations of their originals, although they have a couple of howlers of course - they don't get the credit they deserve in my opinion, and turn out some great efforts.
By the way - welcome to the Society, don't be afraid to ask here or direct to any of the officers, Branches or SIGs. Paul
