I'm looking for a conversion set to allow me to create an early model 1:48 B-17 C/D. I know that Koster Areo Enterprises made/makes one (#KAE04). It's a vac-formed conversion which allows the modeler to convert the basic G kit into either a C, D or E kit or even a G with the staggered waist gun positions. Does anyone know if there is a source in the UK or Europe for this conversion?
As far as I am aware, the Koster conversion is the only early model conversion. Is anyone aware of any other early model Fort conversions other than the Koster?

A very long time ago I bought one from John Adams at Aeroclub. You could try him. If not I understand that Koster does very good mailorder business himself.

Appreciate the info - the AeroClub Models web site was shut down when Peter Wright passed away in March 2010. It has never been re-opened (the site still has the closure notice displayed) so I assume that AeroClub Models is no more. Looks like the Koster mod is the only game in town.

Just a small point here, but Aeroclub Models are still very much in business, but John Adams is focusing very much on his own products and is not retailing others products in anything like the scale of previous years. Thus you are right that he is unlikely to have this conversion left in stock, I just did not want us to be closing down the business prematurely Paul

Paul, Thanks for the info. What did Jeremy Clarkson say (not that he is any great sage, especially this week) 'All three billion facts on the Internet are wrong.' I do however think that having a web page that has not been updated to reflect this info - even if it is just in the way of an addendum to the announcement of Mr Wright's passing would lead others to the same conclusion that I jumped to. Alfie, Thanks very much for that, I had run across that site in my research - was just trying to find a source closer to home, will place an order with them straight away. Bruce

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have received my Koster conversion kit today. Very pleased, well packed and arrived promptly. Thought that you might want to look at the contents. Attachments:

There was an excellent build article based on this conversion in an old issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling many moons ago (I was but a lad) by IIRC Jim Howard.
Might be worth digging it out if you can find a copy.

I don't think it was in SAM - Derek Reeve's index doesn't turn anything up. Must have been in another publication. I'll let you know if I find anything.

The info I have received is that the article was published in two parts in SAM. Volume 11, No2, November 1988 Volume 11, No.4, January 1989 Might anyone have copies that I can buy or if someone would be willing and able to scan the articles in question - it would be greatly appreciated. Will also be checking with Alfie at TAS. Bruce
