Has anyone used Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner on clear parts such as canopies or windscreens? What sort of results have you had. Has it worked ok or has it just destroyed the clarity of the part

Don't even think about it, you'll end up wuth scarred clear parts or the cleaner will make the part opaque!

I did use it to clean up an old truck cab that had the side and rear windows painted over. They did come up quite well, although as I was painting over them again, I wasn't too bothered how they turned out. Perhaps Fairy Power Spray would be a better idea? I have used that on some other glazing to clean the paint off (although it didn't do anything about the glue!!). Bear in mind though that the plastic in the kit I am rebuilding is about 25 years old so it may be tougher than the "modern" stuff!! Hope this helps.

Removing old paint from clear parts with chlorine based household bleach (Eau de Javelle in French) will not harm the clear parts. Depending on the type and age of the paint it can take several days, or even weeks. Use a container with a tight fitting lid, unless you (and your family) enjoy the fragrance of chlorine... ;D ;D)
