I am thinking that combining an Airfix MkXII fuselage with the unfolded wings from the MKXVII Seafire would result in a reasonable rendition of the MkXV Seafire.... but I could be wrong! Has anybody come to the same conclusion or tried it? any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Cheers

Seems a reasonable sort of idea. You'd need to source the various wing bits such as radiators, flaps and ailerons (assuming you've built the XVII and are using the spare wings for the XV) and decide on your hook type. I've pondered grafting the hook assembly from the Airfix Spitfire Vc/Seafire II boxing, but have yet to cut plastic on it.

Thanks for that Mike. As luck would have it I have acquired another MkXVII kit so the wing 'furniture' shouldn't be a problem, and may well go for the folded wing version. Like you, I had come to the conclusion that grafting the A frame hook from the MkIII could be done to represent one of the Cunliffe-Owen built examples, I understand that it was only the first 50 MkXV's built by Cunliffe-Owen that used the A frame. Having said that it could be a lot easier to use the stinger hook arrangement, especially as this is, potentially, my first venture into the world of cross-kitting! I think the MkXII fuselage would only need minor alteration work with the deletion of the Coffman starter bulge, the addition of the catapault spools just aft of the cockpit and the tail wheel protector.
