Hi John
Not sure why you didn't have a reply on here but I hope you have received your copy. Most were delivered over the Christmas period.

Hello Paul
Welcome back to the hobby... Well, one of your neighbours is a long-standing IPMS Member, (in)famous throughout the Society and a member of the Stafford Branch. If you don't know him already, no doubt you will! Please consider coming along to our meetings - you would be most welcome. IPMS Stafford meet on the second Thursday of each month at the White Eagle Club in Stafford. Further details are available on the IPMS Website Network page.
regards GR1

Karl If you like the idea of contributing, drop the editor a line and tell him what you'd like to write about... Don can advise if you're unsure about what format, etc., and I'm sure he'd be pleased to hear from you. I've always felt that another positive aspect of the IPMS mag is the opportunity it gives for Members to gain confidence in writing reviews, reports and articles. It's interesting to note that many of the 'names' in the commercial publishing world cut their teeth right here... Go for it! Chris Personally, I look forward to receiving the IPMS Magazine. It's the only paper magazine I 'buy' these days. I do enjoy the articles but I like it mostly for the club information and editorials and other events info so I for one would be disappointed to see it go. I'd contribute an article(s) but not sure how to, nor am I convinced my work is up to scratch to put in the IPMS mag. Karl

Just to add a little to this....
I wasn't impressed with my first look at the Modelzone area in WHSmith Birmingham - but I didn't expect much and therefore wasn't surprised. However, I called into another large branch - Manchester - and saw that they had the new Airfix Lightning in stock. It was, of course, at the full retail price and, as I'm tight-fisted, this wouldn't normally tempt me but...... I got into conversation with a member of staff who pointed out the '20% Off All Kits' vouchers and was very happy to get a deal on a brand new F.2A.
I also noted that they had the full, very extensive, range of Humbrol paints so, all in all, not a complete waste of space and actually better than nothing!

Gutted not to be able to make it to the show. Todays weather wouldn't have deterred me but last night's left me stranded further north following an absolutely horrendous couple of hours on the M6.
The guys I'd intended to travel with today cried off too, so that was that.... Not only missed the show but the couple of favours I'd promised obviously had to be abandoned as well. Sorry chaps!
Still, can't be helped... Glad it worked out okay for the organisers and there's always next year, I suppose!

You really must write some of these conversions up for the magazine, Ian.
Great stuff!

I have to agree that some of these kits are lovely... I have a number including the Wildcat (not Hellcat) complete with cat crew - yeah, Sweet! I buy them even though they're not my usual area of interest...
Must admit though that, although I've always heard good things about the Sea Kings, I've managed to talk myself out of buying one whenever I've seen them. The panel lines appear rather trench-like, particularly for the scale. Can anyone reassure me that my impressions are wrong?
