Failure of my own personal recce equipment; Colin says he's going for a Fennec on the Aircraft site. I really must wander about the site having a pog before writing anything.....apologies.

Lawksamighty, I even got that wrong...... Colin has ordered a Fennek; if I remember rightly a Fennec was the French name for a wingy thing used for training pilots not to crash too often. Or have I got that wrong too? Sanguin the sober.

Sanguin,
Absolutely correct Old Boy, T-28 in US parlance, used by US Navy, Marines. Big brute of a trainer.
I believe that the big radial engine was adapted for use at some time in a tank thing - so Colin is part wise there.
Also used by Air America in Laos, Cambodia.

A Fennek is also a four-wheel drive reconaissance car used by both the German and Dutch armies.

Daz.....
Spot on.
Fennec, named after Fennec Fox of North African fame. A Fox with very big ears...T 28 Trojan in French air force was called the Fennec also, but the model I have bought is the...
...Fennek.....A Dutch/German armoured car. I am buying my first ever armour model!!!!!
Depending on how it goes, it may not be my last....I am a little nervous about it being 1/72 and so must be a bit on the small side with me being used to 1/48 aircraft.
Anybody got any suggestions for other "Recce" armour vehicles I might have a look at? All those dark winter nights coming up and no sign of Canberra PR 9's yet!

I bought two of these so I could do one as a German one, which I've built and I just have the Dutch one to build.
P.S. Colin have you thought about doing any WW2 armoured cars for the Recce theme. I have a few to build mate.

Hello, not Colin here but I have a 1/35 Dingo built and suitably marked but thought I would save it for next year when it might be less lonley - I have the 1/35 Staghound (polish recce with winged hussar marking, different) and 1/35 Cromwell to do, the Cromwell can be built as 2nd Welsh Gaurds (recce) straight from the box, may do it in Berlin Parade Kreigsmarine grey ...

Jon B,
If you have something built, that is 'armour' and 'recce', then why not bring it with you for this year? We do hopefully have 2-3 armour models already for this year, that I am hoping to 'squeeze' into centre tables.....why not bring your Dingo?
Next year is 12 months away, who knows what will appear by then...

'Whew', this thread has really taken off. Guys why do you not put the Recce to: Land, sea and air. This would be the easy way to solve the recce problem of recognition. Have land vehicles that we all recognise as made for recce(recon)and vis a vesa for the Sea and air. That should make it plain enuff for anyone lol 'OH', and hope to see you at Telford.

Foxy,
Recce SIG includes all Recce models!!!
Whether it be Air, Land, or sea.........any scale....Recce is Recce.....!
Look forward to future participation, aircraft no problem, 'armour' starting to show.....I would dearly love for this to develop.......Hell, I am going to have a go at 'armour' models myself, you and others have generated some interest in myself...for armour.....they played a part! .....as did aircraft!
Any one interested in armour, that has a 'recce' bias is most welcome......
