Thats nothing like the Victor camera crate, in fact I have never seen that installation before. I'll pop over to Perth this pm to see a friend of mine also ex 543 but also ex Valiant g/c. You've got me thinking now!. I'll mail you later.

Do you have the Scale Models (I think) issue with the very accurate Victor drawings in that came out many moons ago. If not I'll scan and send. Good drawings of Victor camera and photoflash crates.

See you modelled XL161. Last SR2 I flew in ( mine - 193 was u/s) before being posted to Harriers. Survey of Denmark...still got the strip map (now framed) used by the Nav.Plot. Gets very boring stooging up and down at FL35 taking happy snaps.

If you're thinking of the issues 78/10 & 11 plus 83/11 - I've got those and lend them to Rolf - probably simpler than scanning and mailing.

Late Mk.1 PR Hurricane is nearly finished, serials and varnish to go!

Went with a Malta 1941 scheme (as seen in last months MAI).



Went with Azure blue instead of PR blue, as I'm not convinced they would have had supples of PR in Malta in 1941.

What do you guys think?

Hello All!

Back from the far north! Shetland amazing....fascinating place!

Not least for the sense of connection it gave me for my family and ancestry, but a beautiful group of islands, some fascinating places/characters and tales to be told....

One tale I found particularly fascinating was the "Shetland Bus", Norwegian sailors taking fishing boats to Norway and back, during WWII, landing agents and supplies....absolutely fascinating tale and a book I would thoroughly recommend........

Ah enough, back to the real world.....

Seen the Hurricane, Nice! Would have to agree with lack of PR blue. Azure blue looks nice! Hopefully got a few Hurricanes this year, should raise the profile of PR work they did, and a nice looking bunch of unusual Hurricane schemes...

Colin, I like the look of last years display so I would keep it very similar. The cards you did for everything went down really well. A couple of blokes told me it was great as they did not know most of the time what they were looking at but our stand explained it all.

Will we have the SR-71 this year? if not we could maybe put the big Hurricane in the centre.

I know not much help for 2008 but I will hope to have the 1.72 Draken Balloon for 2009 if I dont go mental trying to rig it!

One extra I should get finished for 2008 is a 1/72 RF-86 from 501 Sqn Japanese Defence Forces.

Have to agree that good models with labels saying what they depict, and how the modeler got there are good, intend to continue that this year......

Unfortunately the SR71-KC135 'combo' will not be reappearing this year....

The thought of Hurricane in large scale, centre has an appeal ...it has to be said....1/32 scale has an appeal, two models possible, would be nice, Hurricane and Lightening in 1/32.....

My thoughts are, centre piece large scale, (the floater!!!), Talk to Dennis!....otherwise early WW I on left, progressing towards WW II and later on right, larger scale (ie 1/48th) on shelves at back, bigger scale easier to see at that distance.....

That's my thoughts at the moment......................

All......I know that some have sent plans of what they want to display......Please send again what you are planning on bringing.....span X length..starting to draw plan's, looking like an interesting dislay....!

Possibility of a variety of AEW models, all in 1/72. Although he is unable to attend.

Now I know that looks like a hell of a lot of models, to spread out over four tables, but I feel quite strongly that we can put on a good display of aircraft over the ages, covering the whole period of aviation, and lets face it, that covers the period of Recce.......

Have ideas for shelving at the back of the display that are more 'elegant' than last year, and I have to say that despite having what seems to be a large collection of models myself, and all in a large scale, I shall be displaying less numbers than last year, only a representative model of each type, so pressure relieved from that point of view.......

Labels for models, have had feedback that it was useful and interesting to have label stating what the model represented, and what model was used to get to, what was shown, would you like me to do label's? I did most of them last year and am quite happy to do so again.........Thought's?

Hope this rather large post helps to let you know where I am, and what I am planning, please feel free to contact me or post here, all suggestions welcome......The thing that really worries me, is once we have sorted this year, then next year could really be interesting regarding showing what seems to be a growing interest in the subject of 'Recce', never thought it would get to this, but pleasantly surprised it has....

I scrubbed the RF4C some time ago, the RF8A is 1/48th (Dims are for wings folded) and Tiger is Burma Volunteer Air Force as used by 3PRU (1/48th)

If you could let me have a sample of a label (size etc, to ensure commonality ), I'll print my own.

Otherwise list looks impressive.

Thanks for responses, all amended as appropriate.

Another thought has arisen regarding SMW 2007.

Last year with it being the first showing of the SIG, and feeling a certain responsibility for having started it , I did some polo shirts with a Recce design for all those who displayed...

Well the thought arises as to doing something similar this year!

Rolf has sent me a rather 'eye catching' design, the subject of a design for the SIG, never having quite been agreed, or solved, although a motto seems to have the majority vote of "Above all Unseen" as per the title of Edward Leafs Book of the same name.

The design that Rolf has proposed is quite literally an eye looking at you, as if through a camera lens! I have to say that I do like it, I only wish I could put a picture of it here........Want to see a copy, email me..

Any thoughts?? I would be happy to get a load of 'T' shirts and print them, they would be easier, (and cheaper), than the polo shirts of last year........Say White design on Black, or Black on white shirts.....say five pounds each?

Interested in your thoughts?

For what it is worth, I am going to do one for myself!!!

Yep, OK, mail me a copy of the design. As for T shirts, I suggest white on black as "Recce" has always been considered something of a "Black" art.
