Dear All, Sorry for not posting much recently, been on holiday, and been busy with family matters.....How life carries on outside modeling!!!! Thanks to mike for starting new thread, can we rename it Recon 2007? Julien, I'm planning at the moment to do the Scottish nationals in March? To meet up with the one person who didn't make it to Telford 2006, Dennis, and I must admit I am looking forward to it, as he has some lovely looking WWI aircraft and has some excellent ideas about "floating airships", look forward to seeing wether it works? ? Other thought is that I committed myself to going back to the Welsh Nationals....that were bravely started last year! Other than that I'm open to ideas? In an ideal world I'd like to go abroad, to Switzerland and support our lovely friends there! But that is still in the 'planning stage'......Rolf I would dearly love to come! I'll try!! Julien if you have any other ideas I'd love to hear from you, one day shows are most definitely a 'go', weekend ones I have to think about, as "she who must be obeyed..." cannot be ignored and we need a cat sitter if the pair of us go somewhere for a night! As for plans for SMW 2007........All I have come up with so far is, that knowing that numerous people bought models at SMW 2006, with a view to add to and compliment the already exhisting collections they have, then we have to try and show these models, and a couple of people have come on board who have models that are different and compliment what we showed last year, so I feel that we have to show those.. My feelings are in general, that we ought to try and show at SMW 2007, the broadest selection of "Recce" aircraft, from the beginnings of Recce to what is happening today, Julien I know you bought a French AF biplane, would be nice to see! Would compliment Dennise's RAF Bi Planes of WWI...Am going to try and complete a model of "UAV" to show the most up to date end of the spectrum....As this past year was the last year of the Canberra, we should I feel exhibit less canberras next year, that should give more room...But can't easily ignore Canberras role in PR. Would be nice to look at other countries aircraft, that have done 'PR', particularly going to ask Rolf to show some of his models, the German airforce ones..... So I guess variety would be the theme that I find myself inclined towards. Hope this explains my thoughts at the moment, look forward to others thoughts, christ wev'e only got 10 months to get it together........... Will be shortly sending all, 'members' list, in "word" about us all, look at it, enter your preferences or corrections and email it back to me, and I will start a database and email you all back with up to date copy........Hope to start dialogue between us for "greater good" Starting to think about family get together over New Year, will probably involve getting wrecked...so next post probably on Jan 1! The Photo Recce SIG is making its first foreign venture!!!!!!
I am going to Switzerland at the end of March to attend the Swiss Nationals in Bern. Been in contact with Rolf for his help and hopefully going to make it into a weeks holiday, even hoping to get a a couple of days skiing in Wengen, before returning via Epernay in France to get some champagne.
Chaps, take note! This is how to get your wife volunteer enthusiastically to come with you to a model show with no spending limits!(cringe), oh my poor credit card.........

Hi Colin, I'm aiming to show "Starize" twice. If you're not familiar, this was an aircraft name applied by the 10th PRG, firstly to an F-3J during 1944, and latterly to an RF-4C of its successor unit, the 10th TRW at Alconbury during the 80s. The Phantom is built, committing the F-3 will give me an incentive to start it! Both are 1:48th scale. For a sneak preview, check out these: www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=ESP48204 www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=X00448Cheers, M

Mike,
An interesting choice the Havoc, night time photo recce! and the link with the Phantom.....Sounds an interesting pair, look forward to seeing them!
And yes why not on the U2, wouldn't be much of a photo recce display without one!

Subject to the Old Years night sootfall clear up and Living Room re-paint going to plan, for Perth:-
Bristol F2B, Fe2B, RF-8A(Cuban Crisis), plus the SSZ if I can get it to float .
For Telford - the above plus Lightning F.53 2Sqdn RSAF, RF-4C Alabama ANG or possibly a 10TRW aircraft following an argument with six anti-social ducks over Scotland, although I prefer rigging bi-planes to spraying Vietnam style camo and possibly the following:- NASA TR.1 in white, RF-101B(Monogram), Audax(Aeroclub Demon bashed about a bit) .
All 48th.
Heres hoping

OOOOH,
Off to the Swiss Nationals in the morning, looking forward to so many things.
Getting to meet modelers from another country!, let alone seeing their models, although looking at the standard of the Swiss models so far, I think they have long dark winter nights with nothing else to do(?), and only build two a year....Swiss accuracy and efficiency are wondrous thing to behold.......
Seeing something of Switzerland,(having a few days holiday as well), driving on uncongested roads! Being the typical Brit abroad and only being able to ask where the toilets are in the required language! Spending lots of cash on Champagne in France on the way back...
Not having to listen to news regarding Tony Blair's latest initiative or proposal to enhance his 'legacy'. Oh yes folks I'm looking forward to going to Switzerland.
Seriously though, any one interested in displaying models under the "Photo Recce" banner this year at SMW 2007, start thinking about it and contact me. Already started preparations for this years table plan...........................
