"Spyplane", David Donald, Temple Press, ISBN 0-600-55279-9. Quite old, and a very superficial quick overview of strategic reconnaissance, focussing on ELINT and SIGINT, from WW2 to the 80s. A good "primer" with some nice photos, and the first time I'd ever heard of the Martin Mercator.
"Tactical reconnaissance in the Cold War", Doug Gordon, Pen & Sword, ISBN 1-84415-32-322-0. Should have been titled "USAF Tactical Reconnaissance ...", but despite that caveat it's thoroughly recommended. Find out what Heartthrobs, Haymakers and Slick Chicks were, meet Patricia Lynn, and read about the problems of developing the RF-86. Also has an interesting appendix explaining how to derive the scale of a photo from the height and the focal length. Bought at SMW07, so should be still available.
"SR-71/YF-12 Blackbird series", D. Jenkins, Speciality Press "Warbird Tech" series, ISBN 0-933424-75-2. Title says it all really.
"Dragon Lady", Chris Pocock. Not one I own, but imo the definitive U-2 book from one of the Dragon Lady's most ardent fans.

Great set of titles, I see that I will have my work cut out adding them to my site. However, I think it would be a great asset for anyone researching photo reconnaissance and the aircraft used.
Great work keep the titles coming.

Since you mentioned the RAF in WWII...
At least some of the RAF PR effort came under Coastal Command so:
RAF Coastal Command 1936-1969 by Chris Ashworth (pub PSL, ISBN 1-85260-345-3) has a chapter on PR including a photo of a PR.I at St.Eval that I'd like to know more about (serial ?).
Aircraft for the Many - RAF aircraft in June 1944 by MJF Bowyer (pub PSL ISBN 1-85260-427-1) includes Mosquitoes and Spitfires at that time.
Has anyone mentioned Photo Reconnaissance by Andrew Brookes (Ian Allan in 1975 - ISBN 0 7110 0570 2) ?
Aeroplane magazine will publish a feature on PR Spitfires next month by Alfred Price - could be a rehash of his features in Air International Vol 39 nos 1 & 6.
There was also a feature in Wings of Fame 5 on PR Spitfires...
and Air Enthusiast Quartely no 17,
That's all I can find quickly, Ross

I was given a copy of 'Recon for Rommel' as a Valentines Day present (romance is not dead!) - definitely one which should be added to the list. It is mainly pictorial but features some stunning pictures of life in North Africa with 2.(H)14 the main reconnaissance staffel in N Afirca and subsequently Italy.

recce related :
Boeing's B-47 Stratojet, Alwyn T. Lloyd, Specialty Press/Midland ISBN-10 1-58007-071-X - ISBN-13 978-1-58007-071-3 - 2005
276 pp, Chapter 4 - 26 pages on Recce variants, surprisingly little on first batch of RB-47B's, 2 pics of camera pod from above, more text & pics on RB/ERB/EB-47E's - RB-41H's,
Chapter not really detailed enough as modeling data.

Hi Gents,
My first post here since being made aware of the discussion by my good friend Mick (Matzos).
Thanks also for the kind words about my original Aufklärer and my two recent books on the same subject for the Classic Colours series.
My third work on Lw reconnaissance is well in hand and I hope to have it finished later this year. However, in the meantime I am in regular contact with Mick and will help where I can to expand the Luftwaffe section of his air recce site.
If anyone has any specific questions regarding reconnaissance in the Lw, please feel free to contact me diredtly at either of the following email addresses:
davewad@shaw.ca or wadman.dave@gmail.com.
Cheers

David
Welcome to IPMS UK - totally agree with all the Aufklarer books are excellent.
All
Had another thought about publications to add to 'the list'. I have been trying to get hold of copies of 'Luftwaffe im Focus' its a bi-lingual quarterly magazine that covers all aspects of Luftwaffe ac including Recce.
Not managed to pick any up yet but they look pretty useful.

Hello Paul,
Many thanks for the welcome and I heartily concur with your comments on Recon for Rommel about the 2.(H)/14 in N.Africa - anyone with an interest in the Luftwaffe should find room for it on their bookshelves.
Similarly for Luftwaffe Im Focus, when you consider the amount of material included in each issue, they are well worth the money.
Cheers Dave
