I'd be happy to do a 2 Sqn Mustang but the problem is the one in my stash (1/48 Accurate Miniatures) is the II which has the 4 cannon sticking out of the wings and after looking at the 2 Sqn article in a Wings of Fame last night I don't think they used that version. If anyone fancies a swap of this with the ealier mark used by 2 I'd be happy to do it , otherwise as you already have a d-day striped one on the table (and very nice it lookes to) it will be my version either in desert scheme (1 of the 4 borrowed from the USAAF) or Exercise Spartan marked (I can feel one black wing coming on, roundle outlined in yellow ? - back to the piccies) !

OK Colin,
2 Sqn, RAPTOR toting Tornado GR.4A it is then:
ZG741 (Q) "Truffle Snufflers - It's a Recce Thang" 2 Sqn RAF Ali Al Salem 2003.
Might have to go with the Revell Kit rather than the Airfix one though.
Cheers,
Rob M.

Well, lets see. I should have 1/72 Mig-21R USSR, 1/48 USAF U-2R with Rams Horn antenna, 1/72 SU-22R German Markings, Hoping for 1/48 Mig-21R in Cuban markings! maybe another U-2 the HASP version.
Doing a recce Phantom but that will be for the phantom guys 500 Phantoms.
Might try and do one of my RF-8's, and if thats not enough then there is the German WWI Balloon! (if it does not drive me mental!)
I also have my eye on a couple of German Recce armoured cars!

Dear All,
Sounding good........
Rob,
"Truffle Snuffler's-It's a Recce Thang", who can resist.....I can't.
Paul,
We have no Jaguars or Tornado's at present. Although obviously Rob looks like he's doing 1/72 GR4......I'm doing 1/48th, choice of, depending upon how far you want to go back................I'll start at WWII;
Lysander Mustang Spitfire Meteor Swift Hunter Jaguar Tornado
Quite a choice...........could always have a look at RAFWEB......
So far have, Spitfire XIV/XIX 1/48, Meteor FR 9 1/48. Swift 1/48, Hunter FR10 1/48, but don't let that put you off........................
JonB,
Can lay my hand on Mustang I, I think if you want?
Julien and Mike,
Like the sound of Mig and Sukhoi recce models.......

Colin - 2 Squadron:-
Lysander info and kit on the bench - Italeri 48th
WWI stuff and tween wars stuff as follows:-
• 1912 - Farman Longhorn - plans drawn - plastic card orderd • 1914 - Farman Shorthorn - as above • 1914 - Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c - will use either Aeroclub or Roden 48th - both kits on bench. • 1915 - Vickers FB.5 - tempted to scratch build this as well. • 1917 - Armstrong Whitworth F.K.8 - Windsock Data file ordered, plastic card assigned. • 1920 - Bristol F.2b Fighter - either Blue Max or Eduard kits - both on the bench • 1929 - Armstrong Whitworth Atlas - sourcing information. Have basic plans • 1933 - Hawker Audax - Aeroclub Demon modified • 1937 - Hawker Hector - Scratch using fuselage of Demon as pattern • 1938 - Westland Lysander I - Italeri using plans from Aeromodeller December 1967.
Currently converting Typhoon into a Tornado prototype (nothing to do with Recce - just like the shape)
Have dusted off plans to convert Matchbox/Revell Victor into a Victor - new cockpit, new fin, new tail bullet, new intakes, new outer wings, new tail cone - the centre fuselage is just passable so will have to do. Bout time XL193 went on display again.
Dennis.

Dennis,
What can I say, WOW you do have the 'bit' between your teeth, if your biplanes this year were anything to go by, I am REALLY looking forward to what you have to show by next year............
Am trying to get photos out of 2 Sqn.....
JonB,
Desert scheme sounds good, don't often get to see one in it.
Dear All,
What with Rolf's Vulcan/Valiant and Victor, could be a very tasty line up.

Colin,
just back from the club. 90% certain that I will have an original Inpact Bristol Boxkite to build next month. As that was the first aircraft flown by 2Sqdn, and I have the full official rigging diagram for the type, put next to a Tornado next year - would be quite a comparison.
Photos - could do with a few Atlas' and Audax's to size and position the red(?) triangle under the fuselage serial block. Brisfits had coloured band within two red ones but also had white 2 on red/black triangle(?) on the fin - Pic would be nice.

Dear All,
No definite news yet from 2 Squadron........but hopefully soon.
How about thought of, and I am only 'floating this' as an idea........
If we get support from 2 Squadron, and it helps us to put a good display on for SMW 2008................
How about we 'donate' our 2 Squadron models to the Squadron.....?
Love to hear your thoughts...............................................................
Personally, I would love to, If 2 squadron want them....................
Just a thought......

Colin
I reckon I could bung a Lysander together - noticed there is a MkI/II in 1/32 but I think ill find an example in 1/72 - not my preferred scale but happy to have a go - will even resist the urge to paint in a luftwaffe splinter pattern - although there were a number of Luftwaffe recce types captured and re painted in British colours hmm ........

Well then ..... seem to have committed myself to go fighting Mach2's Valiant and Airfix Vulcan but.... Commitment dwindles if compared with what Dennis is planning !
Dennis; have you received my mail and do you think you might be able to unearth more on the Valiant recce cradle ?
