Aha thats the same truck all round. Same instructions but with numbers, are parts 54 and 85 all one seat then? Cos thats not how it looks on my sheet. Anyone know anything about interior colours? LOL This was supposed to be a quick build-from-the-box. Wolfie PS Whats a pogo stick? and do they have different suzies? Wolfie, read the words in the post I sent, the passenger seat is made up from a base and a seat and if you follow the arrows you will see the seat goes on top of the base which fits into the cabin floor, and that's how it looks on everyones sheet. also you can fit the bunk or the curtain, parts number 105 or 96 A pogo stick is a pole to keep the AIR LINES (they don't call them suzies) off the floor and somewhere to hang them when they are bobtailing, see the photos of my build and you will see an alternative way to keep them up. Have I got to send you the colour chart as well for all the colours on the parts?

Well in that case my sheet is different then cos mine doesn't have the arrow putting the two parts together. It looks like they sit side by side or summat. Yours is much clearer. Colour sheet? Mmm yes please

Cheers Ted, colour schemes printed off.
I'm not going for red and white on the outside though, I reckon a nice green.
Wolfie.

Surely they don't have chrome pedals? Do they?? I'm off back to sensible trucks after this Ayup Chris, Just had a look through the postings from you and Ted. The instructions Ted sent you are very similar to the set I have, don't forget these kits are 30 years old (and the instructions). However, a few minutes spent looking at the sheet and picking out the parts to be worked on can be advantageous. Some of the AMT kits have alternative construction paths, like the Astro I'm building, I can either have a duel exhaust system or a single system, I had to decide on a particular path early in the construction sequence. In my view, the AMT kits were well ahead of their time, in both subject matter and simplicity of construction. Looking at the recent Trumpeter La France, the construction sequence is very similar. Unlike the kits of today, the AMT kits need a little more attention, but they have excellent potential for conversion. I've got several in the stash and I'm looking for a couple more, especially a couple of Mack R600's. As for the chrome pedals, chrome exhaust and whatever else they've chromed. It's down to space on the sprue and the most economical way of producing the kit. One of the first things I do is decide which parts I want stripped from the chrome sprue, usually the exhaust stacks, fuel tanks and miscellaneous engine bits and pieces, they're popped into a tub of bleach and the chrome is removed and parts washed. This may seem like teaching someone to suck eggs Chris, but my advice is to take a break and leave it alone. Study the sheet and have the parts in front of you, if you still feel it's a dog, put it away and forget about it for a while. Then when you're fed up of tripping over it, put it in a box, wrap it up and post it to me coz I love em!

Thank gawd for that, I had visions of super chromed trucks all over the freeway...YUK.
Anyway its turning into a lovely truck. I'm just making it a bit more sensible. I need to do more of these.
And did you dredge me out a steering axle mate?
Wolfie.

Ayup boys...
Sorry to butt in, but, do you know modelsforsale.com at all? at the moment they have a load of different peterbilts, including a peterbilt Wrecker... one for you Wolfie, eh? they also list the truck Ted built earlier. i do fancy one of those i must say... Aclassic American truck shape...
I do myself have one truck to make. an Italeri Freightliner FLD 120 'conventional U.S. truck' its No.738. It looks good. i was given it by a driver mate for nowt. apart from obvious paint schemes, does anyone know if its good for conversions? i assume to different specs. or do they just lug conventional bodies?
Good Build thread too.... keep it up! ;D

... Good Build thread too.... keep it up! ;D Stu, come on in mate, the more the merrier, get that FLD built. The FLD is a beautiful looking truck and would be used for hauling general freight. I'll have a look at the web site you mentioned, I'm looking for a couple of old AMT kits.
