Nope ... delivery from the dealership. However, there's a bloke at the same dealership who delivers nationwide and gets the train back. I've had my fair share of exercising my thumb in the past, but that was truck delivery.

Are you doing accompanied fleet delivery or one off travel to travel back stuff?
We had a guy disapear last year with a top of the range 4x4 doing totb delivery. found him 150 miles from where he was supposed to be following his sat nav to somewhere obscure cos he'd miss programmed it!

Ayup Ian,
I was taking it to the Mercedes Benz facility at Milton Keynes, then got on a train for the return journey, what a car!
On the subject of satnav .. it's a tool like any other, but blindly following the thing because it says go a particular route when your common sense dictates otherwise is verging on the slightly silly.

Nick. Too true about blindly following it because it says so. There was the story in the papers from last week about the lady who had sat nav in her car and followed it down a tunnel which had a clear sign saying it can flood if heavy rains occur. The police thought she was a bit idiotic. The picture showed the car up to the bonnet in water.

There have also been stories about coach drivers finding themselves in a field after blindly following the instructions from their satnav? ... I also seem to remember a story about a driver turning onto a railway line after the satnav told her to turn left at a railway level crossing ... ?
Most folks switch the satnav on at the start of a journey instead of using it to find local destinations near the end of their journey. I have a reasonably good knowledge of the UK and if I'm asked to take a vehicle to a destination, I firstly determine which direction I should be travelling, then look at a map to find the approximate area I'm heading for.
Anyway, I wonder what they'll have for me to deliver tomorrow? ... rumour has it there's something silver and sleek, and a flippin 'Smart' car!

I'd fuelled up the loan cars and picked up the service vehicles for the day's work, and thought that I would grab a quick coffee in the staff canteen. As I was walking past the parts department, one of the blokes mentioned that he could do with me fetching a few bottles of transmission fluid a bit sharpish. Well, always willing to do a good turn, and also realising that I could pop out for a sarnie, I agreed to nip up the A52 to Nottingham. I asked if the parts van was available and was told unfortunately the van was out on a job, but I could use the parts manager's new car. ... may I introduce you to the parts van ... ... later in the afternoon, having enjoyed my sarnie, I was pestering the service managers for a return run of the morning's service work. I must have really annoyed them as they asked me to deliver this dreary little family people carrier ... ... yes it's a factory 'Brabus' conversion ... well, someone's got to do it I suppose? ... oh I've removed the registration to protect the innocent.

These run of the mill things are ok mate but wheres the really interesting stuff?? Theres a new company moved in next to us and yesterday he turned up with his silver Porsche uncannily on the same day my motorcycle came to work with me cos the sun has finally returned to North Yorkshire. More folks gawped at the bike by far Gotta be said nowadays, most cars are pretty much an interchangeable much of a muchness, that last Merc is identical to my mams Honda RV summat! Wolfie

Wolfie, the second photo is a 'Brabus', it's not exactly your next door neighbour production line Mondeo.
