This version appears to be one of the earlier bomber-canopied versions with extended wing chord for larger fuel tanks. I have found a few references and photos online. I also have a secret stash of my own - my dad's personal photos when he was with 58Sqdn - so I'm particularly interested in WT512. forum.keypublishing.co.uk/archive/index.php?t-69478.htmland www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1046932/ [Which is currently down] There was an old Frog kit but I'm more interested in modifying a more modern and available kit such as the new Airfix ones. Any ideas?

The PR.7 was the PR version of the B.6, with the same wing - with integral tanks - so . . . .
You'll need the wing from Airfix's B(I).8, with the fuel tanks engraved and the large starter bullets, and the fuselage from the B.2 (yet to come), with a 14" (just over ¼" in 1/48 scale) extension between the nosewheel bay and the bomb bay. Of course, Airfix may release a B.6, or leave the large starter bullets in their forthcoming B.2, which would make it even easier.
The only 'British' Canberra with a variation on the standard wing shape was the PR.9.
Hope this helps,
Ian

Yes it does thanks. I've also heard that the 14" extension never existed but more say it did than didn't

Hmm....
I want to do a 1/72 PR7 when the Xtrakit/MPM kit comes out, I thought it was a 'given' that it had the extension. If it didn't then it would make life a lot easier.
Then again 14" is only 5mm in 72nd...is it worth the effort of putting the extension in? Would anyone notice in 1/72?

Playtime......! and Neil...
Agree with comments above. You want to make a 1/48th PR 7?
Well I have done the PR 3, and am half way through doing the PR 7 in 1/48th.....
It was a B 6 with a fuselage extension as quoted, and the other main visible difference being the starter 'bullets' in the intakes, the rest you can do yourself.
I have done, and am doing conversion of the classic airframes kit, which neatly breaks at the correct point in the fuselage to add the extension for the PR version, with all of it's camera windows...
Neil,
Appreciate you are doing 1/72, but same applies...it does have the extension, and it is noticeable, you have to put the camera windows somewhere....
Both of you, feel free to email me...... can send all the photos I have, not only of the model, but of the real thing, if it helps you get further forward. Most happy to help.

Have decals and paint schemes for PR 7.

Neil,
No chance.....
..........and it's fiddly to make the windows convincing as they are quite large 'curved' apertures with a round camera port within that, but don't let that put you off, at least in 1/72 they are smaller and less noticeable.
Give me email, will send photos.

Oh nearly forgot.....
Go and have a look at Airrecce.co.uk, for references on PR3 and PR7.

Budget precludes any immediate purchases so I hope the Xtrakit offering isn't going the way of rocking horse droppings. I may have the option of an Airfix version by the time I get around to it.

Hmm.... ...is it worth the effort of putting the extension in? Would anyone notice in 1/72? Many years ago I built a T22 using the Airfix B6 - had to do something about that awful nose on the kit, a Buccaneer radome seemed the obvious answer. The T22 was new, that shows you how long ago it was. What I didn't realise was that the T22 was based on the PR7, so I didn't do any extension as I didn't know I needed to. It just looked wrong, and for ages I couldn't work out why. So yes, in 1:72 it is small in the grand scheme of things, but it is noticeable.

I've had an Airfix Canberra stashed away for longer than I can remember. As you say, the nose is crap (no other way to put it!) so I got the Airwaves T17 conv for it. But as a T17 is going to be released (from Xtrakit I think) I'll have to think of another use for it. ...unless Alfie (TAS) wants it...

Rare and valuable vacforms there... probably more rare than my Airfix Canberra Strange wing inserts to the sides of the fuselage, were Airfix's wings too short?
