Paul, let me know how you get on, any pickies of your build...... You HAVE to be kidding! It'll be years yet, the darn thing is five feet long and covered in SHARs, GR3s etc, not to mention a zillion containers in umpteen colours. Much of that stuff is done, but the hull build has a long way to go, even though I'm starting with a fibreglass mould. Call me back in 2011.........

Paul, Nice seeing you and the 'Intrepid' at SMW over the weekend, and for the 'real demo' of the handrail manufacture, most impressive. I was a trifle sceptical about using Revel styrene glue for them and I was amazed when it worked, well done indeed. I'll try the method out and let you know how I get on. Thanks again.

Thank you guys for all your kind words, and to you all at SMW who had a look at my build. Had a little modelers block just recently, but managed to do a little tonight....

Hi Fatty. I know that something like this project it can take time and that you have to leave it due to waiting on some part or find the misses wants the front room painting !!!!. I find there are some parts hard to find when doing a scratch built model and time it takes to decide what to make it from etc. 'So', hope you finish it at some stage lol, if so a picture please.

Hi
That has to be one of the most impressive boats I have ever seen - scratchbuilt or not. I just stumbled across this message, very impressed.

Hi That has to be one of the most impressive boats I have ever seen - scratchbuilt or not. I just stumbled across this message, very impressed. anthony Thank you, Well I did a little more last night, completed all the repairs from the journey home from Huddesfield and started work on the side rails for docking ramp. As the ramp is only just over 1mm thick I wasnt sure on how i was going to get the rails to match the ones on the main hull. But whilst in the shower on Sunday the idear came to me...... I could use the same process as the main hull (drill a hole and insert the wire) but instead of drill downwards into the hull I would drill into the side underneath the ramp. The all I would need to do is add a 90 degree angle to the wire so it stood up in the right direction. Job done. ;D

Well the Intrepid build is back on ;D its sat on the shelf looking down at me for far too long now...... Now that Canada Dock in Liverpool only contains a few bits of twisted metal that was once HMS Intrepid it kinda gave me that "kick up the bum" to finish her. With taking the build to various shows it has taken its toll on more of the delicate parts, so Thursday night a little "ship Dismantling" took place of my own. All the side guard rails have been removed and the holes filled back in, and the main mast will be replaced with a more accurate representation. (this actually got snapped off as a result of an emergancy stop in the car comming back from a show) Pictures to follow......

Great there Fatty mate. I see you have moved in proper to your workshop and got it looking how workshops should look, worked in. Instead of pristine condition. Nice to see your ship is on the agenda again.

I saw on ebay a 58" half built Radio control oil tanker for sale. although it was just the hull with the front motor it loked impressive and I did fancy bidding and completing it.
As I didnt win it it got me thinking about building a radio controlled ship!
Now I carnt use the build above (way tooooooo heavy) but it has got me tempted to build either another Intrepid or another ship (possibly a tanker)
