Mick, you may have noticed I've placed your build in a board of its own.

Thanks Nick. Don't know if I feel special or Billy no mates !! Never mind Mick I'll be building the Cat D8 soon, well, once I've finished the Mack. Actually, it could be a while ... erm, anyone got anything sort of construction related to build that isn't a truck? ... just so Mick doesn't get lonely. ;D

Coming along nicely cosmosman, still can't imagine how high it's going to be will have to get out the tape and pull out 6 meters man that's some huge crane, I don't think a van's going to do the job mate better get Yourself a semi. By the way on my crane I have found a place for it I intend to build a 1/24th diorama in the second half of 2010 after I've finished the Red Baron which has sat round for 2 yrs at least doing noting but collecting dust, that one belongs to Kerin. The dio will be the only one I'll do of that size I do have a very small one being built out of cardstock and it is a truckers stop or as we call 'em Roadhouse ( they serve fuel, food have showers for the truckers). Dingo P.S. almost for got the crane cost me $20u.s. or about $26aust at the time.

Took some pictures of model outside. Started next section of jib but not enough to add to model. Made a start on hoist cradles. Still a long way to go.

Hi C/man
That is really taking shape. It will be amazing to see what kind of load this will be able to lift when completed.
Fantastic

NOW THAT IS A JIG !!!!!!
Were the aluminum slotted rails from ceiling tile grids? I presume this will allow you to taper the boom in as you build the height up.
Looking great. I have one of those garden tables too so I can now begin to appreciate the bulk of the model.

Aluminium is just some channel and angle I bought from Homebase. Cut the slots in side on milling machine.

If your still wanting some gears, let me know sizes and i'll have a look at them. Have you tried looking on Hobbys website at gears that they do ?

Finished build jig so started on jib sections. This is setup for cutting angles on tubes. Rotary table is used for correct angle and sanding drum is same diameter of main tube on jib. One down, 37 to go !!! Mike Gannon is casting connectors in white metal.
