Our club (IPMS Hornchurch) has a similar approach. We have 4 comp nights, 1 every 3 months. the comp's are split into 4 groups..
Aircraft 1/72 and under
Aircraft 1/48th and above
Armour all scales
Miscellaneous all scales
Club members cast their votes (in secret) placing their top 5 in order over the course of the evening. with votes are counted and the results anounce at the end of the evining... with top two in each recieving a medal... all points are accumalated towards the club trophys... at the end of the year.
Also all models entered over the course of the year (regardles of if they won on the nights) are displayed at the last meeting of the year (the one before our AGM night) where we invite some guest judges to pick a model of the year (plus a second and third)
It is the informal nature that helps ensure each comp night we have plenty on disply... and more often than not the model of the year winner is a model that did not win when it was first entered... it is the fresh eyes of the visiting judges that create these outcomes.
hope that helps

As modellers I guess we all enjoy a good show. Whether it is just attending or in my case exhibiting... but the cost of hosting these shows can prove crippling to a club. With this in mind the idea was born for 4 clubs to share the costs and reduce the financial risks involved. The upshot of this is the all new Essex Modellers Show. The show is being hosted jointly by model clubs from Hornchurch, Southend, Chelmsford and Essex MAFVA. It takes place on Sunday 19th August in Hannakins Farm on the outskirts of leafy Billericay. For our first show we are expecting some 15 clubs and about 10 traders spread over two halls with a bar area adjacent. If anyone is looking for a pleasant day out in August why not come along... John

Why this subject has never been done by the likes of Tamiya is beyond me... but I doubt they could do as good as your build...

and the council took a section of the parking area for their own use so advisable if driving to get there early... as there is so much to see you'd want to be there early anyway...

They are the recent Revell kits in special edition boxes. 15000 of each kit are available, around 109 per outlet (we had our 109 yesterday). I think the blurb in the ads is a typo. Mark Can you set one of each aside and we send you the tokens...?

first I have heard of it... I built the fujimi Gulf GT40 and it to this day is one of my favorite builds... I would love to build it in 1/12th scale but artbox shows road version ... so between the predicted cost of a 1/12th Trumpeter kit combined with aftermarket conversion kit. better start saving now...

Not what you would call pretty is it...
but so long as it is effective at it's job then that should not matter...
looks like it will be an easy scratch build
