Anyone interested!
This is a request to anyone interested in Luftwaffe aircraft of WW II, particularly versions of aircraft that were involved in reconnaissance of any sort..........................
I am involved with the RECCE SIG, and we have an interest in all RECCE aircraft, and I am aware that the interest in Luftwaffe aircraft of the period WW II, could be greater! particularly in England.
I personally think they are particularly difficult models to build, and more importantly, paint convincingly!
We have a member, who is good at doing models of this period and sort, who is looking for like minded individuals.......Interested in the subject and willing to build and display models under the RECCE SIG banner....
If you are interested, please contact me..............................
I know there are folks out there who are good at building Luftwaffe models, please have a think about it, and if interested contact me.
I do hope for responses..........

Well I'm game to do a fighter-recce 109F or G, if anyone can point me in the direction of reliable information on the camera arrangements, how they were deployed (dedicated units or odd aircraft on the strength of ordinary Jagdgeschwaderen/gruppen/staffeln?), and particularly any decal sheets with non-Luftwaffe Axis markings. Not this year though, the F-3's trying to fight back, but it WILL be ready for Telford!

Mike,
Don't know myself anything about camera arrangements! But I might know some one who does!
Popeye!!! SIG member, from abroad!
If he sees this he can contact you, otherwise I'll give him a mail...

Hello Mike & Colin,
Hikoki "Aufklärer" by Wadman/Ketley yields some general & detail pics of 109's with German markings between pages 205 to 219. No non-German marked recce 109's known to me and until now I have found no drawings as to installation and camera openings.
Perhaps more to be found in the Kagero titles on the 109 - none im my posession.
best rgds, Rolf

Happy to have a go at Recce Luftwaffe. I tend to alternate projects between armour and aircraft so something like this is right up my alley as it were.
Seem to remember seeing a Me 262 configured for Photo recce - not sure where but would love to have a go.

Gentlemen - pls always state yr preferred scale.... Paul, Revell Germany produced a Me 262 A-1a/U3 recce variant in 1/72nd - would have to check for the kit nbr in the stash as it is no longer on theyr website. Cutting Edge had a decal sheet for German Recce birds CED 72068 / 48068 with 2 ea 262, Fw 190 & Me 109. In case of interest I have some more rather murky pics besides those in Hikoki's "Aufklärer" Rolf

Thanks for the suggestions - I was hoping to indulge my passion for armour modelling too and use the Tamiya 1/48 with kettenkrad. There are a couple of conversions sets on the market which might be of use and I have the Osprey book on the 262 which features the recce version.
I hope quarter scale is suitable for this. Happy to go 1/72 if that is the concensus.

Hi Paul no obligations and no consensus. In fact I would love to see a recce 262 with Kettenkrad in quarter scale ! I just cannot help much with gen on quarter scale as I am sticking to 1/72nd

I am afraid I am having to delay starting any new projects at the moment. Am thoroughly interested in the concept of Recce Luftwaffe subjects and I WILL make a start on the 262. I have identified the kit and the Aires (if memory serves) do an excellent resin nose replacement which includes the bulges on the fuselage/nose and open hatches showing the camera arrangements as well as the lens openings in the fuselage.
Have had a bad experience with PE recently so am sticking to the resin conversion and everything else will be OOB (at the moment!!).
Hope to be able to start this in the next 3 or 4 months. Having read the initial post is there likely to be a sub SIG for Luftwaffe Recce or is this just a case of like minded individuals huddling in a darkened corner muttering about lens configurations.

"Lens configurations" - a fundamental of recce aircraft, as what it really means to me is: "where do I poke a hole or three in my fighter to convert it to a PR version?"
Since my last post above, I've found out that Fujimi do a "Photo-Recon" boxing of their 1:48 Bf 109G-10. "Anyone got one for sale?" he asked hopefully ...

Paul Paul, - you never know where Colin's ideas are heading..... After doing a dozen British and American recce a/c I got infected again with the Luftwaffe bug from the Hasegawa He 111 and the Ju 88 - willing to huddle and share - not only on lens configs. Rolf
