Colin
To be honest I am cacking my pants.
Doesn't help that I completely messed up the paint job this weekend. Stripped it back to the primer and will try again later. Decided to put it to one side before it became a permanent fixture of the wall.
Luckily I am using acrylics (Model Air) so a quick scrub under a running tap with a toothbrush restored the model.
Will let you know my progress this week - other than the main paint job and the niff naff and trivia like the wheels and open hatches the kit is done. I want to do a base but I think I might be pushing my luck with the deadline so at most it will be a mirror base.

Hey Folks, Looks like we have a new member! Luke contacted me the other night enquiring about joining and displaying........... What's different, is Luke is into armour, and is hopefully bringing a Chaffee Recce tank for display this year. He also sent me some details about the Fennek armoured car, which I had never heard of, but looks quite intriguing........... Maybe more armour interest to come? Colin

Luke,
You have got me into it! Just ordered Fennek from Hannants.....!
Look forward to seeing Chaffee, provisionally centre table with Dingo and Kettenrad/Me 262 Recce-combo.........
Dear All,
Interesting threads being posted on 'Armour', seems there is more than a little interest in joining in with Recce SIG, ......would have to agree with Dennis's thoughts, I would envisage the SIG being one entity, rather than splitting up into smaller 'fragments', separate we are likely to have less impact, together we can all add to the subject of representing Reconnaissance, in all it's aspects......
As Dennis says so eloquently, we will hopefully generate interest, awareness and enthusiasm for the subject in all it's aspects/equipment/ages and applications.....whether land, air or sea...........................................

Cheers Luke,
Appreciate that.....from what I have heard, it seems to be the majority view...So be it, we remain one! But if some one does want to take on the task of encouraging greater 'armour' participation .........then I would like to hear......? I simply feel I do not know enough about the subject, but will enjoy learning.
I am going to try and do my bit, in that, I am going to have a go at a couple of armour models over the winter, and I must admit I will look afresh at the various 'armour' displays at SMW 2007......................
One thing that has me a little worried is that, I feel I can do a kit justice, but then you need to 'weather' it, and seemingly put it on a base to do it full justice and that is something I have no experience of.....................................................................................any tips?
Dear All,
How goes progress during the final countdown? only a couple of weeks to go, any problems? anything I can help with?
Going to get new table cloth for table's, any ideas about colour? Was grey last year, but looking at photo's think it looks a bit 'dull' now...............

Colin,
Having just survived the GNER journey back North plus the monthly British Legion Meeting in the Ceres Inn :-
may I respecfully suggest that you bring your "Armour" kits to the show and build them "under supervision" from Tankie types if you like, to show how its done. I'll be looking over shoulders to pick up a few hints and tips.
Regards table cloth:- PR/RAF Blue??. Apart from that - no probs,
D.

All is well with the 262 - had a drama last week with the hellgrau base colour but after stripping it off and re-applying it looks good. I have noticed a small 'filler' imperfection on the wing which will be sorted this weekend where i will then do the 'squiggle' camouflage effect. Then its just a matter of a quick cost of 'Klear', do the decals, paint the crosses/numbers and then bang on the 'sticky out' bits.

Colin, one more for the table. Fujimi 1/72 RF-86 501st Recon Sqn JSDF. This was built OOB, a great little kit, only let down was the fit of the clear bits. Strangley in all my years of modeling this is a double first; My first Sabre and my first Japanese Aircraft. Julien

Julien,
What a pleasant surprise! I was expecting a USAF RF 86.........
I thought I was the only one going to display an Air Force other than RAF or USAF......Then you come up with this, ....I look forward to seeing it in the flesh, nice looking model.....................................
I shall be bringing a couple of Swedish Viggens, a couple of French Mirage's and a Swiss Mirage, should be a nice little spread of 'other countries' models.
Look forward to seeing you again.

Excuse Moi Monsewer Le Colin,
May I add to Juliens comments that the Burmese Volunteer Air Force will be well represented by a Tiger Moth (well - OK - RAF roundels - sort of), VMCJ-2 of Mr Presidents United States Marine Corps gets a look in with a "Blue Moon" RF8A and the Indian Air Force has at least two Hurricanes (well - OK - SEAC roundels). Not forgetting of course that the Royal Naval Airship Service (NOT Royal Naval Air Service! - I've done my homework), has a Sea Scout Zero (I sincerely hope!!) on display.
