Dennis (& Colin)
oh oh - you're testing my ressources.... Fear not, I shall reply in detail but need some time - your questions ask for some detailed explanations and unfortunately my retirement is not yet reality, as I am still working 90% until end of January.
For short - acrylic Swiss camo paints are available from JSP / modelshop but no definitive date available for recce pods in 1/48 yet.
more asap.

Dear All, Beginning to have thoughts of RAF Recce theme, within theme, for next year, if you know what I mean. I already have quite a line up of 2 Sqn recce aircraft from Spitfire to Phantom, and am planning to finish it up to date by next year. Any one got thoughts of doing WW I to WW II aircraft of 2 Sqn.........Dennis perchance...? just a thought, might be an interesting line of models, obviously with RAF theme, and the longest serving 'flying' squadron in the RAF.......Wonder if 2 Sqn would be interested?...Might try and contact them. Colin Hmmmmmm..............................Bit of lateral thinking.........................Blackmail and Corruption.................OK..............I'll build 2 Squadron tween the Wars....................provided that...............I can build................a 2 Squadron Lightning with a Recce pod in 48th................THAT would be different................

Colin, OK, you've twisted my arm - what did Number 2 Squadron have between 1918 and 1939 - I'm a glutton for punishment. Dennis Dennis, According to the book Second to none by Hans Onderwater (Airlife 1992 ISBN 1 85310 351 9) II (AC) Sqn operated the following types: 1917-20 Armstrong Whitworth FK.8 (1/72 model by Pegasus) 1920-29 Bristol F.2b Fighter (various 1/72 models) 1929-33 Armstrong Whitworth Atlas (1/72 model by Merlin Models) 1933-37 Hawker Audax (1/72 model by Aeroclub) 1937-38 Hawker Hector (1/72 model by Aeroclub) 1938-40 Westland Lysander I (1/72 model by Airfix/Pavla) Hope this helps. Peter,
thanks for that, I now have a good working list to start from. I will have to check and see if the book is available, if not a visit to the local Library will be in order.
Again, many thanks

Dennis, trying to answer questions in yr posts step by step: Detail and other relevant pix Venom Mk 1R see : www.photocollector.biz/shop-marque-de_havilland_dh_112_venom_mk_1r-3-32-43.htmIf I remember correctly from the tech handbook there were left & rh pods, however most pods in use were the same lh & rh . and there was a mounting for a vertical camera in the rh cannon bay plus a viewfinder periscope in the cockpit, see bulge on underside. I never noticed a trimetrogen fit – question open On www.mc-one.ch you will find several PDF’s in French and English, I have mailed Robi Schneider asking about the “404” message on the “recce” PDF, answer outstanding. This section deals in some detail with the recce equipment. Can send a hardcopy if needed. No info to hand on air sampling pods – assume they really were “on loan” Paint: From own painting experience I can confirm the colours to have been Cellulose, own paint standards, manufactured in Switzerland but most probably using RAF standards as a base and reference. (The Hunter camo is a slightly different tune) And until about ten/fifteen years ago this really was as secret as Swiss Bank Accounts ! AND we did get sunburns in our reserve service ! The report you state ties absolutely in with Swiss reality. For paints see www.modellshop.ch/skip5shop.aspx?ogr=0&gr=736&art=0¶m=dynMenu&wert=0> 1 to 3 used on Venoms other details see www.eusebio.ch/Roundel.htmwww.eusebio.ch/farben.htm Quarter scale recce pods: master is presenty being prepared, date of release unknown ! General remark: Georg Hoch’s book on markings & camo of the “Fliegertruppe” is imminent, hope we find a lot of answers there. Rolf

Rolf,
you are a Star. The references quoted will keep me happy for a while. Please let us know when Georg Hochs book is published. Will keep tabs on quarter scale recce pods.
Finally, please PM your address, once I have installed new CD writer, I will load CD with Vulcan shots plus the colour pix from "Recon for Rommel" as requested at Telford. Anything else you would like just ask.
many thanks
Dennis

Hi Julien, I'm contemplating a Fitter as well, in my case in Slovak markings. Been doing a bit of digging recently; Model Aircraft Monthly, May 06 and Model Airplane International, Nov 06 both have articles, the latter's mainly a build, the former has some background. Describes the recce fit exactly as the Kopro 1:48th kit (assuming that's what you're using too) specifies it in option "A": recce pod on c/l, ECM pod on port inner wing, two taks on the outer stations, and a rocket pod to "balance" the ECM pod. Let us know how it goes - I won't say "race you" because I build slow! Mike, I have the kopro kit but it's 1/72 (the one true scale ;D) Julien

One for later in the year I think. Paul

Thank you Aviation Megastore............
I can but praise the Dutch, my Mirage F1 CR, and 'bit's arrived as they promised, virtually to the minute, at reasonable cost.
Quicker than Hannants! Most impressed.....
Still hoping to find 1/48th Thunderflash.

Roger,
Show's........Well I support my local show at Aeroventure, here in Doncaster. It has been twice a year, April and August, but may go to only Apr/May next year.
There is talk of holding it the same day as the IPMS, AGM, which is being held at Aeroventure next year I believe. I will be showing, you are most welcome to join in, maybe 'stopover' ?
As for show's elsewhere.....I went to Wales last year, but that seems to have not happened this year. I went to the Swiss Nationals this year, would thoroughly recommend it, lovely show, but I do know it's a long way.........................
I would like to do the Scottish Nationals next year, with Dennis, in an ideal world.
I have committed myself to going to the Swiss Nationals in 2009, and of course SMW 2008.
Because of other commitments, cannot afford to do, too many show's, but I am open to suggestions!!!!!
Any ideas, any of you............
Colin

Who was looking for possible data on recce Me 109's ?
Classic Colours "Aufklaerer" Vol I & II yield quite some pics on 109's and Fw 190's (besides lots of other types of course) and even handbook drawing and diagram of recce camera fit for Me 109 and 110 !
The two volumes are a very good complement to Hikoki "Aufklaerer" even if there is some duplication of pics.
Recommended !
