Who was looking for possible data on recce Me 109's ? Rolf Me. Thanks Rolf, you're a star, I'll look out for them. Incidentally, just a thought: I notice the Phantom Phans have a separate sub-board - do we want to ask Nick for one for Reconnaissance? Maybe even at the next level up, to emphasise that it's not just for aviation types. What do you think chaps?

I did PM this to Colin a while ago to see if he wanted to approach Nick with a view to creating a sub board. I think it is a good idea personally and if Colin is in agreement then we could ask Nick to do the honours - would be useful because we could then split up the various discussions into their own threads. Lets stick a 'wet finger' in the air and see which way the wind blows.
By the way what version of the 109 are you looking to do - I picked up an E4/7 trop a while ago with a view to doing the E5 variant which was based on the E4 but the only 'conversion' sets I have seen are for the Gustav, which is a simple resin camera apeture that glues to the underside. So I am not sure if the same configuration was used for the Emil as for the Gustav - I have even cleaned my local library out of books on the 109 and still not 100% clear.

Hi Paul,
I'm looking at the G-8 or G-10/R2, failing that any 109 that did FR, be it an E, F, G, K or whatever.
If I can source the 1:48 Fujimi kit, that would be ideal, "anyone selling one?" he asked hopefully ...

I have the E4/7 Trop in 1/48 and am hoping to convert that - having looked at some reference material recently it seems the E5 which is based on the 4 had the sliding panel aperture under the fuselage while the G8 had 2 square windows - Im sure we will figure something out.
Best of luck

OOOHHH........
Good suggestion about having our 'own' little area....
But it does feel a bit strange, having a look tonight, it feels like some one has come into my little comfortable world, and redecorated every room, and I am now wandering around trying to find stuff............
Well, we now have a bit more scope, feel free folks........
I feel quite gratified that we have progressed to this point.
Well done to us all.

I have the power, that was a song wasn't it?
Beware of man wielding light sabre, or anything that looks or sounds like one, that's one of my many motto's.
Any way to move on.
Dear All,
Can I ask a favour of you?
The IPMS Decal Bank hopefully arrives tomorrow, and I am going to try and go through it over the next week......
As I have posted elsewhere, it is only going to be as good as what is 'donated' to it......Can I ask you all to have a go at having a look through your decal 'stashes' and try to sort out what you no longer want or have a use for, and be cheeky in asking you to post it to the decal bank? The address is in the decal bank thread.
Sorry to sully the Recce Area with such a crass request, but I am trying to take advantage of what little influence I might have........ Go on folks, you know it will do your soul good to have a good clear out!

Dear All,
Well I see it is official, just noticed in the aviation press, that 39 Sqn RAF have reappeared as a 'Tri-service' squadron "flying" two,
MQ 9 Reaper U.A.V's, complete with 39 sqn markings!!!!!!
third one to be purchased.......
Must get model, could be an interesting pairing with Canberra PR 9.

Hello All,
Well I'm back on again, I've finally managed to log on again. Nice to see we've got our own part of the site. There are now two Britten Norman Defenders on the way, both of which are little different from the norm. One is the bulbous nosed AEW ZG989 and the other the stretched BN-2T-4S ZG995, currently operating out of Basrah. Anyone buiding this latter aircraft using the UK Air Arm Decals and 3 view pictures, be careful because if you study any photos of the aircraft (it used to be G-SURV) you will notice a stretched fuselage and an extra set of windows. So I've had to do a cut and shut job using yet another Airfix Islander/Defender Kit. The decal sheet diagrams show totally the wrong mark of aircraft, how can a decal company get it so wrong?

This particular decal company gets plenty of praise. In my opinion though, they also make more than their fair share of mistakes.... Don't get me wrong, it's good to have a company covering these subjects. I just wish they'd go the extra mile sometimes.

Hello All
I have the Airfix RAF Personnel set and on one of the Sprue is a guy holding/trying to put a camera in a PR Aircraft
If there is enough space on the Table (for SMW2008) could i do a small Diorama where he is fitting this camera into a spitfire or Hurri or any RAF PR plane?

Luke,
If you want a Spitfire, thats no problem, go for it.
Hows thoughts for armour coming along?
Am hoping to do Fennec, in Dutch scheme (Afghanistan) for my first contribution to armour selection.......
