I hope to continue the Luftwaffe Recce theme this year with the following:

HS 126 in 1/48 - will be a challenge as the quality of moulding is poor to say the least.

Fiesler Storch in 1/32 - includes a figure of Rommel which is nice as the first day of SMW 08 is also Rommels birthday!

Bf 109E4 in 1/48 - will need a little modification to make it an E5 (Recce Variant) and would need to source some reference material which is not too difficult.

Would be interested in putting an RAF example together for your 2 Sqn group but I would need some direction with regard to which types you need. Happy to have a bash at anything.

As a keen Armour modeller too, I would be happy to do an armour example again, would need direction on what you would like, modern Scimitar perhaps in Armd Infantry Battalion Recce Platoon or maybe a WW2 Panzer I or light armoured panzer

If funds/time allow I may do another 262 and learn from my mistakes from last time, although this is very much just a thought.

How about desert Scimitar, ala Iraq? Two squadron, need Jaguars and Tornado's, Storch sounds nice....Henschel intriguing.

My to build list?

Jaguar GR1 in both Grey/green, and white/Green, Tornado in Grey/Green, White and Green, and then GR4A in Grey......Nimrod R1 in Grey, then Mirage F1CR in Grey/green and then brown/sand, let alone the Canberra PR9's that may appear..........offbeat one, Folland Gnat FR1....?

Believe that some of the were Lancaster B1( FE) Reconnaissance.

I like the sound of the Tornado (not literally as many a putt was missed by low flying Tornados at RAF Bruggen). Had a quick look on the t'internet and there are some very interesting schemes, particularly the 95th anniversary decal option for 2 Sqn. So I think I will push my boundaries this year and go for my first modern jet, in that scheme - that ok for SMW 08?

Again with the Scimitar - can accomplish that no problem. My last job in the Army was with a Armd Inf Bn and am still in contact with the ex Recce Pl Comd so I am sure he can furnish me with a few phots of the Scimitars in his platoon.

Starting to get exciting again - woo hoo.

not really my cup of tea, but hannants hot news sheet has a mig25 recon nose and vac canopy by pavla listed as new arrivals 1/72 if anyones interested

hello Rolf,
starnge this , reading your last post, I purchased the 1/48 revell kit yesterday, rather than use the markings suupplied, (one not applicable to the version kitted anyway) I looked up my references and discovered the same, however as far as I can seel the kit version cannot easily be backdated, but I may still do an RAF or South african MK11
I may still order the book though, thanks for the heads up

Dear All,

Just to keep you updated with the latest 'rumours' in the Recce World.

Had a chat with a friend today, cannot say who employs him, but you might be able to guess....

Looks like the Nimrod MRA 4 is going to get the 'AXE' ......no huge surprise there I guess....

The Nimrod R1 has had it's time, what with all the incidents and fires, etc, in the Nimrod world.....

.... again no great surprise. What with rumours of RAF going for RC 135 V's that the Americans cannot fully man....and no more MR2's around or MRA 4.

RAF ordering more Super King Airs already to take over some of 'camera' duties of the R1's....... Will try and find out more...... been told same 'turret' that Nimrod R1's carried.....

Just got "Shiny Two" decals in 1/48th, so grand master plan being GR 1A, grey/green 2 Sqn, GR4A Green/white 2 Sqn, GR 4A "Shiny Two" Grey.

Have got model alliance sheet with 13 Sqn markings if you are interested.....? Nice sheet plenty of decals, actually got two sheets.

If interested got loads of decals and photos, give me mail.
