Ian,
Just tried sending you an email responding to last post, and got it returned to me as undeliverable within 5 minutes, dont know what the problem is, as I have been having occasional problems with sending emails, sometimes getting "system error" and not knowing wether it got through, and whats worse, no record of what I wrote! and yet sometimes it does get through, sometimes times 4!!!!
Don't know solution, maybe your mailbox is full?
Sorry but tried sending one a while ago, but obviously neither of them have got through, so trying to answer your question here...
Am expecting you to turn up Saturday morning with 3 models,
Neptune B17 (PB1W?) EC 121
departing Sunday afternoon, approx 2ish.
Understand "T" shirt XL, its in production......
Would like to email you design and Table plan "H", but will try again tomorrow night.

Hello All, Looking forward to it! Judging by replies so far, I realise that a lot of you have other commitments on other Branches and SIGS, so I have resigned myself to the thought of having a relatively solitary existence on the "PR SIG" stand. For those displaying models am hoping to provide, souvenir polo shirts, coming along nicely, come and see me and hopefully should hand them over! Am quite prepared to spend the majority of the weekend, on the stand on my own, please no sympathy!!! However, I am conscious of the interest so far, in the subject, I am proposing that as many of us as possible should try to meet at 12:00 on Saturday, on the stand, to discuss where we go for the future? Rolf, I've even thought about doing a trip abroad......Maybe we can talk about that...... I am conscious that some folk can't make SMW2006, and I am determined to try and display at different venues throughout the Uk over the next 12 months. What do WE want to do for SMW2007....... Thoughts so far.....Its always nice to have a theme, don't have one! Always nice to have a 'centrepiece', possibly a dirigible of RNAS for next year, that actually floats!......Let alone thought of 'PR' pigeon on centre table...... Personally going to persevere with collection of 'PR' aircraft of RAF, Meteors and Canberras, but with thought of UAV's, to try and cover both ends of the spectrum........ Would be most interested in any thoughts? Hey I am booked into B+B for friday and saturday evenings, am quite prepared to travel, and am quite a social animal, love to meet people, and chat...and drink beer or wine! Look forward to any replies....... Colin colinshipton-knight@blueyonder.co.uk

Oooh only a week to go.......Looking forward to it, anybody have problems with what we have planned?
Going to Bradford tomorrow, to meet John Sheeehan and pick up his models for display, starting to get slightly paranoid about wether it's all going to happen.................or not
Anybody need any thing? Anything I can do? Polo shirt production coming along nicely, should hopefully be able to pass on over the weekend, come along and see me on the stand

Hi Colin,
I'm also looking forward to next week (the Mrs has just told me how much I will have to spend!). It seems you have got everything in hand mate, I'm willing to help out on the SIG table, say mid to late Sat afternoon and again on Sunday after the EGM if that's okay. I'm afraid I'm booked in for the IPMS Banquet /Dinner on Sat night so won't be able to make a meeting then but I'll be there with the models (the Connie needs some battle damage repairs to one wheel and the flaps that came off in the final move back home from Uxbridge last weekend when I finally retired from the RAF) around 9:00 to 9:30 AM on Sat.
Slightly off thread but great news about Airfix, surprisingly I saw an Airfix 1/72 Quantas Connie (obviously an adaptation of the Heller one that I used for the EC-121) in the West Drayton model shop last week.
Anyhow see you next week, really looking forward to it, especially if I can find a Haegawa P-3C Orion/Aries.
Cheers Ian S.

Think I'm the only one heading towards telford, with no plans to spend anything other than on coffee and food, already got all I need....Feeling part of a small minority at this point.
Unless of course somebody can tell me what my life would not be complete, without purchasing! ...With a "PR" bias in mind......of course!

Just got home, and plugged the laptop in......................
Chaps, I just feel that I would like to say publicly, that I have thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, its been a pleasure to meet you all, wow what a group of interesting people, I feel I can say that with some sense of certainity, as someone who has to do it professionally on a daily basis.......
What a group of lovely models, I think that it was an interesting display, that seemed to provoke a lot of interest and thought amongst some, and many people expressed interest.
Its been a pleasure, and all my hpoes have been realised. I hope that the 'photo RECCE SIG' goes from strength to strength!..............
The models were lovely, and the display between us all, I feel was well worth the effort..............I look forward to future events! So much to absorb! So much to look forward to!
I will be contacting you all over the next week or so, exchanging email addresses and details etc, as we all seem to be 'tinterneted' up, so that we can all contact each other.
After this last weekend, I look forward to when we next meet......and I already find myself wondering about what WE will do next time...
Again, Thank you, it's been a most pleasant weekend.....

Well an interesting thing happened this weekend.
During SMW2006, an elderly gent came up to me and enthused at length about our wonderful display, particularly about the Spitfires, and then went on to say that he wished a friend of his could have seen them, but he couldn't make the weekend.
Well yesterday I had a phone call from his friend, chap by the name of Ken Nicol, 86 years old, and an ex PR spitfire pilot! Sounded bright as a button, most interesting conversation, and he went through his log books to discover that he had flown one of the aircraft I had modeled!
Even discovered that one of the spits he had flown was still in existence! PS890
Lovely sounding chap, and I'm hopefully going to meet him soon, sounds like he's not been near a spitfire since 1945, going to try and arrange visit to BBMF and have a look at their PRXIX's!
Sounds like he's had quite a trip down memory lane looking through his log books and recounting some of his experiences!
Must admit, gave me quite a sense of connection with the subject of my modeling, interestingly he is really grateful that we are trying to do something about raising awareness of the subject! Even in his days apparently, little was known about their work until some photos his friend took were released to the newspapers of the time, showing the Mohne Dam the day after the raid!
Just thought I'd pass this on to you all, we've reached at least one person who was involved all those years ago.

See previous post....
Going to meet Ken, the ex photo recce spitfire pilot tomorrow, sounds really bright and lively, think he's not been near a spitfire for 60 odd years! Got loads of info and a couple of books for him, hoping to get him to Coningsby to visit the BBMF and reaquaint him with the touch and smell of spits

Nice one Colin,
I used to spend a fair bit of time at Coningsby at the F3OEU back in my ADV days.
Got a guided tour round the Lancaster once - really friendly people.
Hope you have a good one,
Rob M.

Well that was interesting! Made an old man very happy..........
Ex PR spitfire pilot, 84 years old, never been near a spitfire for over 60 years, never had photos of aircraft he flew, never knew that one he flew was still flying, PS890, never seen the crest of the one squadron he served in! Most interesting going through his log book and recollecting the things he did and saw, I learnt loads including him correcting some 'established facts' in the modelling world about spits.
Finished off with promise to get him up close and personal with a spit again! Finally gave him one of my models, that just happened to be of an aircraft that he had flown, and a couple of books about the subject.
Real sense of 'connection' with the subject, having met Ken.
Interestingly he was quite emotional at the thought that others were interested in what they did all those years ago, and further that WE were interested in raising awareness of what they did!
Interestingly, he was seemingly quite proud that he never fired a shot in anger! but did admit, that he and others did 'their bit' by "bombing" Germany, by saving some fuel in the drop tanks they used, and then jettisoned them over some juicy target in the hope that they would do some damage!!!!!!Apparently in contravention of orders and common sense.
Fascinating and really worth while..................................

Hi Colin Myself and Richard Farrar had a similar experience this year when we met two ex Bomber Command types. One spent all his time asking us about ourselves and not a lot telling us about his experiences and the t'other told me that he was embarrassed when we kept mentioning that we owed a debt to him and all the others for what they did, didn't seem to think he'd done owt out of the ordinary. Gave them both a model Lanc displayed with their squadron crests. We gotta make the most of them whilst their here, Regards Paul Hughes

Hello all,
Sorry for not posting anything recently! been ski-ing in Austria for the first time over the past week, just got back tonight! Pah! warmest weather in the Alps for 13,00 years apparently.....Felt flippin' cold to me most mornings........Knees not quite knackered
....Nice to get back to British Grey and misty evenings.....Fog over pennines particularly warming to see after 4 days of cloudless sky's in Austria.....
Will over Christmas finish off word document including all our contact details and email it to you all, see what you think, make any changes you want to and email it back to me.
Will probably continue thread into 2007, so that others can hopefully see how we have got to where we are! Or do you think we ought to start new one for 2007?
