Colin,
How far can you stretch the recon mandate? Does it stretch as far as Elint, AWACs, ACAS, and AEW as this is my area of interest and some of these types are listed under spyflight's website. I have the secret squirrel RAF Neptune (as featured in the mag last year), a PB-1W and EC-121 Tripple Nickle on offer if you are interested (all in 1/72). Please let me know, I'm at SMW both days.
Ian.

Ian,
The Photo Recce SIG most definitely covers all forms of electronic reconnaissance, no problem at all.
After all, its essentially the same subject matter, and electronic recce doesn't easily fit into many other categories! And last but not least, despite my personal interest being "pure" Photo Recce aircraft, there was a little bit of a mix up in naming the SIG, hence the title being "Photo RECCE S.I.G".
The emphasis is most definitely RECCE. So your models are appropriate.
Next problem, would you like to display the models you mention, under the "photo Recce" banner? Obviously I have a plan for the display already, and space is at a premium! I am trying to ensure that everyone who wants to display, can do so! But I am going to have a rethink, and look again at the plan along the lines that you do want to display these models.
Ideally email me with the sizes of these models, my thoughts at the moment being we may have to add another "layer" of shelves at the back of the display.
If you email me, do you have broadband? Do you have a decent size mailbox? I can send you photos and current plan "F".

Ian,
Just found some reviews of your models, and looked at table plan!
Wow those are some seriously nice models! better than mine! We have to include them in the display, if you want to! Particularly taken by Neptune and B17 radar version, EC121 nice.
Contact me, you have space, I dont care how we will make space for them, if you want to display.............email me...

OOH, Just been looking to see if anything fresh had been posted, and noticed that this thread had 123 replies and 1749 views! Far more than anything else on the IPMS forum! By far! Now this makes me wonder about several points...... Is this a dammed interesting subject? Am I going to get inundated with requests to join/display at SMW2006? Is it just one of those subjects? Is it just idle curiosity, just to see what all the fuss is about? Or is everybody just waiting for my latest post? ?? curiously, Colin

Hello all.....
Just finalising plan "G", hopefully the last before SMW2006, a few folks have come aboard recently and desperately trying to get everybody who wants to display under "Photo Recce SIG", accommodated.
Space is now VERY tight, there is some slack but not much!
If you want to express interest, now is the time!!!!
Am hopefully going to, over the weekend going to complete table plan "G" and send it to everybody who has expressed an interest and offered to display models.
And then I am going to get down to some modeling!

The table plan is now shut!
Folks, my paranoid head is bound to "kick in" soon and expect a flurry of emails to confirm, that your models already committed , are still available! God its only 5 weeks to go! Looking forward to it
Things are tight, despite use of shelves, hopefully everybodies models will be diplayed...............
Next problem, potentially, want to get everybody interested together, hopefully at 12:00 on saturday!
What are we going to do as a SIG for next year?
I'm doing Wales and Scotland next spring, anyone interested?
Look forward to meeting you that are attending!
Any thoughts about a website? Just for "PR" types?

Colin,
"The Avro Lancaster" by F.K. Mason is your best bet. Contains some good info on RCAF recce work, seemingly mostly counting ice-bergs. RAF use is well covered though no details of camera information. If you do a Lanc PR then watch out for the nose fairing profile (at least two different shapes) and the rudder configuration. The Lanc PR is covered in other publications but usually only as a mention. Apart from one aircraft in F.E colours, the PR Lanc appears to have been sprayed aluminium overalll. With regard to camera installation - no idea!.
I don't think that the Lincoln was ever used in the dedicated PR role. ELINT - yes - by 199 Sqdn. 192 Sqdn used ECM equipped Lincolns for testing the UK radar chain amongst other duties. Again if doing either a 192 or 199 aircraft they came in a multitude of different fits. Some with, some without nose and tail turrets, some with and some without radomes, some with one and some with two astrodomes, some with just the tail turret and a few with blisters on the bomb doors. At least one had an odd box shaped structure on the fus roof in place of the second astrodome.

Hello all,
Been trying to get "final" Plan "H" to everyone who wants to display models, to give you an idea of what it will hopefully look like! Have spent an hour tonight sawing shelf tubes to new shorter length, to ensure that we can get all on display, and at eye level.
Some success, but some folks haven't responded as yet!
Hoping for the future, to develop the S.I.G, hoping to set up website to share ideas/reviews/information/scans/photos etc, any ideas?
Would like to spread the "word" overseas, have tried to contact modellers from overseas tonight, who I know have built PR models, any of you have suggestions or people in mind?
Other than that, looking forward to SMW 2006, first display! I will be there all weekend and am trying to answer all questions, will no doubt be an experience!
Colin
PS trying to get "t" shirt design done fore those who are displaying models, anyone displaying can you let me know chest size! Design already on its way, only cheap self designed print! done in word and printed, but hey its a souvenir!
