Anyone else interested in Recce aircraft? ? I'm concious that I may have started this but I don't want to dominate or control, it's not me! As regards it being a potential new SIG I'm happy to start things off and see how it goes, to me its the subject and what the aircraft and aircrew did and do that are important. I have heard it much quoted that fighters do what they do, but it is bombers that win conflicts, HELL none of them know where to go without recce efforts, and it strikes me that is getting even more obvious nowadays, question-anyone do a predadator or global hawk model....?

Mike C, can I count on you? are you interested? despite my preference for cameras in an aircraft, I do readily accept your point about the wider field of recce aircraft that don't have them, hell its still all about a subject that has little publicity, and I feel it needs it???Are you in? Yes, I'm in: perhaps I'll even dig out that Testors SR-71 soon. A few examples in my collection from memory: U-2C; F-6B Mustang; F-6C Mustang; RF-4C; Hurricane PRIIb (yes really!); Spitfire FRXIV; Spitfire PRVII. In the stash: F-3; SR-71; ...

Agreed: to see "over the hill" was the raison d'etre of military aviation in the first place. I think there is a resin Global Hawk somewhere - who'll be the first to market a cockpit detail set? :-)

Julien thank you for your support!
Well I have just sent off a message to Chris Norfolk officially asking to form the new "Recce SIG", and hopefully that will go through the due processes over the coming weeks, and hopefully we will get back a positive reply! Assuming we do, where do we go from here? Do we need a badge? a motto? Do we want to get together and get to know each other, swap war stories etc.
A few personal preferences,,, I would like to try and get together, although I notice we live all over the place, Lincoln, Bolton, Avon, Keighley, Ipswich and Doncaster......any thoughts???
I would like to get some kind of "identity" for the SIG, although I am not sure what. Reading Edward Leafs excellent book on the RAF PRU/Sqns I am taken by the title, which seems to sum things up quite well, "ABOVE ALL UNSEEN"
I don't know maybe this will spark off some thought and debate, I look forward to your replies.....

"ABOVE ALL UNSEEN" is good, but I would echo Mike, in that "OVER THE HILL" allows a variety of interpretations!
